I did this last week or so. Hopefully it will help me with separating my artist profile from the other Clint Martin out there. Distrokid helped me get my stuff with them fixed, but so far...cdbaby has been useless.

I stopped using CD Baby a few years ago. It was great when Derek was there, actually made a fair amount of $$. I see now you get to keep only 1 copy in stock, they'll destroy your extra inventory then if you sell a cd you have to send one copy in to replace it as stock. Crazy!

Yeah, I'm not going to manufacture a cd ever again. It's just not worth it anymore. If I was playing live it would be nice to have a few, but the reality is I will never make any money so I need to keep it cheap. I'm trying Distrokid, but I may get to the point where I upload directly to itunes, google play and a few others and call it good.

Same here Clint. I'm not a performing artist so I'm done with cd's. A small amount from iTunes. We're supposed to give our music away free anyway right? Now when I get a measly check for 20.00 from Spotify & sub. plays I'm thrilled! -such is the music biz..

funny...I just got an e-mail from cdbaby saying they have submitted the changes to my account. They say it should take 3 to 4 weeks. Wierd, I need to talk to you more often I guess.

The distro services are sending out notices so you can opt out if you want. I'm not expecting much from it but you never know.. Good luck, sell much.

Well, I just asked for them to intervene (the only way Apple will fix it) and request artist separation. If you did a search for me at iTunes I was being listed under the Country genre. That I can't live with!

I forgot to mention agreements with Tidal also. I've read indies will be able to upload their material directly & bypass the distributor. IIRC 75% to the label? Not sure how that will translate though. Probably different rates for each way & dependent on the distributor's contract.
