Yes, I do miss McQ
He increased my interest in Dulcimers. He makes bicycle videos with his wife. If I remember correctly, he made an excellent recording with a self built microphone. The man is unique and makes a forum lively.

Hi, Is that a new song? Where's the music?
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I agree, Spacey too. Loved the photographs of his guitar building process.

I miss McQ's considerable wit and Spacey and quite a number of others who have disappeared for various reasons.

Wait a minute ... has to be the "unplugging" prowess! The only shooting she would do, would likely be to hit number 12 on that dial and show National Lampoon how much fun it was!

While Mike could occasionally be a helpful, decent sort it's still a mystery to me why he insisted so often in being argumentative in a very unflattering, obtuse manner. Trying to "work your last nerve" as John T...himself no slouch in the snarky department...so succinctly put it. My personal exasperation with Mike...and why I finally blocked him...is that he actually thought the things he said went over everyone's heads and no one ever caught on to what a clever fellow he was...or so he thought. Trouble was most everyone here was at least a foot taller than Mike thought and could easily see he wasn't.

IME Mike is someone who is immensely fond of indirect communication. Unfortunately he seemed to have a talent for getting into "discussions" with some of the many individuals here who decidedly favor more direct and straightforward communication.

Well stated. And I agree. But indirect communications are just that...like a cold solder joint...or a bit of old aluminum wiring that has flattened at the connection. At best a possible hazard...at worst a house afire.

I always find it interesting that in (what I consider) a community of artists, so many here consider indirect communication a crime or whatever. I mean metaphors anyone? (Oops, I'm doing it now. Sorry. )

The fact that there's a thread about this may be a unconscious comment on the current state of our postings.'. what happened to Steve Strummer-did I miss their farewells? are they preoccupied?was it forum hosting or subscription or personality clashes? McQ helped me with an eq issue using "direct communication" and Steve was supportive of a song I posted so,yes,I miss them and others and hope they are still lurking in cyberspace, chuckling away at our antics. both were polarising characters but you can only really judge people on your personal interactions. perhaps there is an alternative Coffee House where exiled members congregate? pm me if there is or am I just dredging up old news here and should do some searches instead? cheers
