Video series (full song mix)

Hi all, At the moment I'm currently working on a video series for my youtube channel. It will be roughly 10-11 videos and around 5 hrs of content. In the series I will be showing how I mix a song from start to finish, using only stock plugins in Sonar Platinum. I hope to start posting them by the end of the month, more than likely sooner. In the series I will cover, importing and organising tracks with colours and routing, I will be doing some editing, checking for phase and fixing timing using vocal align, I will do some drum replacement with the new Drum Replacer. I will cover things like parallel processing on vocals, drums and bass guitar. The whole lot will be covered from start to finish and the best thing is it is completely free for anyone who wants to take the time to sit down and look at the techniques I use to complete a mix. So head over to my youtube channel and subscribe so that you don't miss out on this. There is a link in my Signature or you can go here ---->  https://www.youtube.com/c...pBlXg5hDiIlzAeGMCQlzCA

Looking forward to it. Once I finally get some bleedin' video screen cap software bought, installed and studied I'll be producing some stuff too. For now I live vicariously through the vids of others.

It's a great way to share techniques with people and I love looking at other peoples videos to see what I can learn.

Indeed and I'd like to document some things before I get too far into things that I forget what it was like being a complete beginner. So many great vids and tuts out there but when you are starting totally from scratch even the most basic stuff can be overwhelming.

I like the angle you are going for with using only the included tools for a start to finish mix. Even the vids on G3 that do this reach out to third party stuff (at least the ones I saw a few years ago did). The tools have changed as well and we can get a lot more done witht he current versions.

Good luck and best to ya.

Thanks, Mike. I'll check it out. I've got a couple paid programs l been eyeballing but if I can get some quality freeware that does the trick... well that would be awesome. Of course I'd love to own Camtasia but last I checked it was $300 so that's out.

Thanks man, Yeah I have bought so many plugins over the years that it's been a while since I used all stock plugins, I'm into video 6 now and it's been a challenge but great because I'm learning a lot as I go along, I have tried to use as many of the tools in sonar platinum as I can, I want to show what can be done in sonar. Thanks for the support man, Appreciate it a lot.

Wanted to say thanks for making these videos and I'll be sure to watch out for their release. This is my second attempt at this post. The spam filter keeps chucking my posts into the bin.

We have so many forum users that are contributing to the community not just by their helpful comments but by things like your videos but an abundance of utilities developed by forum members that help us wring out just a little bit more from Sonar.

Andrew, I have yet to check out your videos, but I will. I think this is the Guitar Picking Man videos? The drums were really hard to mix and on mine I did use Drum Replacer for the kick and toms but decided to keep the snare. Also I didn't use the  sub bass track at all.  One cool thing about Drum Replacer is like on the toms, you can instantly cut out the bleed from the track.

Looking forward to viewing soon I hope.

That's exactly what I did in this mix, I replaced the Tom's to get rid of the bleed.

Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and sharing your knowledge! I listened to videos 1 and 2 in the series so far. I am looking forward to watching the rest. I am learning a lot but I can only take so much country music at a time ;-)
