MIDI Track I/O Driving Me Nuts!

I'm currently mixing a project with a few additional instrument tracks and they're just randomly behaving erratic...

By default, new instrument tracks are set to 'Omni' for the MIDI input and for whatever reason, some instrument tracks are triggering OTHERS! For instance, I had the Cakewalk Sound Center plugin inserted with NO clips on the track! When I exported the project and played it back, I can hear the CSC plugin playing the sequence from another instrument track clip!

So, I tried changing the input of each individual instrument track from OMNI to MIDI OMNI but that didn't help!

What's going on??? HELP! I'm losing patience.

Starting with X3 plug-ins capable of generating or passing through MIDI data have "Enable MIDI Output" selected by default. Make sure to pay attention to this option in the "Insert Soft Synth Options" dialog. The option may also be disabled by right-clicking on the synth in the synth rack. Changing the MIDI input to something other than Omni will also prevent the track from listening to all MIDI data.

Why is it set to "Omni" by default? Is there an option to change this setting and have it default to something else?

I do not believe there is a preference setting to change the default. Track templates may be set in advance or make sure to disable "Enable MIDI Output" when you do not want it.

Also, don't use "simple instrument" tracks. Insert your VST's into the synth rack and route midi tracks to them. Works much better.

New MIDI/Instrument tracks default to Omni when you have Always Echo Current MIDI Track enabled in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording. Uncheck this, and new tracks will default to None.

considering this one solved.   start a new thread if there's a problem.  consider a feature request if it is working as cakewalk intended, but not as desired for the user.
