There's a limit on number of tracks? I thought it was supposed to be professional software...
PT non-HD has always had a track limit. How many tracks do you "actually" need.
Infinite is ridiculous...64 tracks is usually sufficient for just about anything...except
orchestration where you want to capture "each" instrument.
Even Samplitude Pro is limited to 999, which is COMPLETELY ridiculous...
I don't know about you, but most of my projects don't usually go over 50 tracks, and
that's with all the aspects of Drum Mic'ing.
On a non-Hardware (UAD, SoundGrid, Digigrid, etc) assisted system you'd be hard pressed to run more then that with plugins...I think my largest has been about 48 tracks...
Not that it doesn't happen...many people go over the 50 mark...but not by much...and that's
a whole lot of tracks...if you've recorded 128 tracks you've lost your marbles...
Remember the good ole' days where sometimes 3 people would have to be on the board during
mixdown, each doing their part...those were the days my friend...it took REAL talent to get a good
mix...no automation...just animation, coordination, and innovation...from humans...not machines...
and then there were the Tape guys...they were geniuses doing what they did...splice and dice...
And the EMI guys at Abbey Road....THEY were the real geniuses...
REAL TALENT! They did WORK!
