Playing around with Real Strat and Sonar....need a little help...

I got it working just fine in Sonar. I just can't figure out how to record what I'm doing. I dragged and dropped a pattern onto a MIDI track. No problem there. It's pretty cool playing the rhythm pattern as I apply the chord on the KB. But how do I get it to notate the chord I'm actually playing on the Keyboard to the MIDI track? Do I enter the chord notes manually in the pattern? I watched the video a dozen times and it talks about telling Real Strat to play the chords after I drag and drop. Makes no sense to me how the chord is automatically notated in the MIDI track. I'm missing something...

No that's not the issue I'm having. That works, (that's live play from MIDI if I'm understanding you correctly).
 
For some dumb reason I thought that this softsynth plays the patten entered and automates the chord if I enter it somewhere, (wherever that may be), meaning I don't have to play live or manually notate the chord. Then proceed to choose both the audio track with the softsynth and the MIDI track and bounce it down like I do with all the other softsynths to record the performance.
 
I can notate and enter notes manually to edit the pattern in the staff view that's no problem for me in Sonar.

You can put the chords and the strum/pick pattern in one MIDI track, but I find it easier to put them on two separate tracks. Either way, you do have to have MIDI data for both the chords and the strum/pick pattern before freezing. If you've found a pattern you like in the Pattern Manager, you can drag/drop that into a track, but the chords themselves have to be either manually entered via the Piano Roll or recorded before freezing. You can then freeze the synth from either the RealStrat audio or MIDI track(s) (no need to select both) and it should result in an audio track.

Entered the chord note by note in Piano Roll and it plays the pattern in that chord, (that sounds so cool).
 
 Bounced it and it records perfectly!
 
 Is there a step by step tutorial on it out there somewhere? Figured it out but for details in the future...thanks so much!
 

Yeah I got the Sonar manual and it's a beast. I always fall back upon it during a crunch. But what I was looking for was on Real Strat. Thus far the tutorials I've seen features some guy in love with himself on a keyboard/strat and that's too elaborate for me. Well I'll just keep looking. Hopefully they'll update that sight with some real tutorials some day. Thanks for your help!
