Bus Automation Question
I'm trying to get my project ready for mastering. I've got everything going to Buses (Instruments, Reverb, Sizzle, Drum Bus etc.) My mix is hitting the master a little hotter than I would like. The buses all have the " BusOutputVolume" envelope automated. What I would like to do is bring all the buses down a few dBs. What is the easiest way to do it so that all the envelopes are lowered the same amount? I have tried selecting all and moving all the points vertically but it's a little finicky. I was hoping ctrl+right click and properties would help but no dice. Thanks Tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Press O to enter offset mode and you can make adjustments to any track or bus additionally to any regular settings or automation. You'll see the field get a + on there. Just don't forget to press O again to get out of offset mode or it could give you a serious headache trying to find out why things are behaving weird!

That's what I ended up doing. Is this the only way/does it indicate that I mixed my tracks too hot?

If you're not going into plugins, it doesn't matter too much because SONAR has unbelievable headroom everywhere, even if the tracks are way hot (there's a lot of debate whether that's still a good idea either way) but if you're running into a plugin on the bus, there's a good chance you may be clipping its input and muddying up the mix, so it's safer to have your tracks a bit quieter overall.

You could also put the LP64 multi band on the master to catch any overs, that's what I do and it's worked perfectly for me. Often the overs are low frequency so this leaves your mids and his nice and loud.

another way:
you can select all the individual tracks at once.....
go up to the 'volume trim' button (Volume Trim is a pre-fader control which allows the fine tuning of a single track’s volume.)
drop all the tracks' trim down 1db.
now, this is tricky, if you have effects in the individual bins, or even eq, because this adjusts how hard the effects are being driven.
but, this can be a good thing, IF you have let everything creep up on you.
this drops the overall levels going into the sub busses, which drops your level into the master.
i don't like to do this often,
but have used it successfully when i have painted myself into a corner.

doing this, WILL cause distortion, even if you don't hear it. that is, assuming that your levels are too hot and are close to peaking BEFORE they hit the LP64

So far with a fast attach and set just right I find it just tickles it occationally. For sure if the meters start to drop then your pushing it to hard, But it will catch the odd over without any distortion that I've ever heard. You need to use it properly like all these tools. Because it is a look ahead effect I think it does do a very good job as a master output watchdog. I should take a screen shot of my settings. But my DAW is not on line..

And, there is a trim control at the top of the BUSS strip, no need to fiddle with many more tracks when normally you have far fewer busses.

i guess you missed my previous post.... you can select all the individual tracks at once.....
