I found a great YT video to use if you need to annoy someone....

12 hours of barking dogs. Just put it on loud and leave, lol. Heck, play it outside, I might give that a try. I have a couple of neighbors whose dogs would wear themselves OUT... lol. You could even play the thing in several browser windows and stagger the start time. What fun! Then again, maybe you need a barking dog to spruce up your next track, heh!

Dogs

What things have you heard of to do to annoying neighbors? I'd never do it but someone somewhere said they bought a subscription to Playgirl magazine in the neighbor's name, lol. These days you'd probably get caught by technology, but a few decades ago you could have pulled it off.
Do you remember the Dial soap commercials. Aren't you glad you use Dial? Don't you wish everyone did? In the mid 70s they had the brainfart idea that you could send them anyone's name and address and they would send them a bar of soap and tell them it was a "friend". That didn't last too long, lol. They really did that.

I am going to take some 8" KRKs out on the back for tomorrow. I think I may run the dogs through them once the fireworks start. > (off the topic but I like to ramble)...I used to love fireworks but these days people have no respect. They used to stop around 10:00 PM (except for New Years Eve f course) but now they fire them off until well after midnight. This year I expect it to be much worse in Georgia. It has been illegal to sell fireworks in GA since probably the 60s. The last several years they have not enforced the law and allowed people to set up big tents in parking lots before the 4th and NYE. People generally begin a few days before and continue for a few days after. They started last night. I think it will rain them out tonight though. Anyway, GA legalized them again effective July, 1. So I expect this year is going to be off the charts. At least it isn't dry here.
You should experience New Years Eve in Germany at least once. The government does not do any organized fireworks display, the people do it all. It begins at dark and goes until about 1:30 AM (at least in Koln when we were there). Everyone walks down to the banks of the Rhine, which is a huge river in Koln, and they shoot every kind of rocket and firecracker you can imagine... I think I saw a V-2. It was incredible, much more fireworks than any organized display I have ever seen.. but the BEST display I've ever seen was one 4th at Mexico Beach, FL. They have a canal for the marina. They take a barge out a ways off shore and then shoot the fireworks back toward the beach, not up but as if they were shelling the shore. I've never seen anything like it, the starbursts and other things like that seem to bloom when they are coming toward you instead of up and away from you. Anyway... enough nice. Back to annoying people, lol.

I hope you have a great and safe independence day.

Julien... now I'm going to start Foxboro downloads. I skipped Everett on my DAW, I assume it will all be included in Foxboro since I paid for a year advance. I think all the freebies are still included, I hope so.

Hi,

The BBC Library, is also fun ... you put on a CD and run it to the end. And then do another. See how many pile driver sounds you can actually appreciate and what beat they are in ... and all of a sudden FAUST is ... a lot more fun.

There are a couple of other CD's worth getting:

Carl Stalling Project -- put this on and see if you can sit through one side, let alone 2. it will drive the metronome maniacs crazy!

Spike Jones -- I think I got bored after the 15th song, but some of the lyrics you all of a sudden go ... he said WHAT?

Faust -- first 2 albums ... record them and in a DAW turn them backwards. Now have fun laughing!

Klaus Schulze -- Mirage -- record it and then turn it backwards! Absolutely outstanding and bizarrely worth it!

Robert Schroeder -- Floating Music. Play it at 33RPM. Heavy, heavy teutonic, far out music. Trippy as hell! Play it at 45RPM, and it is not half as attractive as the first one is! It's one of the first LP's that Klaus Schulze's label put out way back when ... it is a massively rare LP. btw, because of the ability to play it both speeds. The CD, of course, does not show you both versions, which is a real shame!

Brainticket - Cottonwood Hill -- The repetitiousness and insanity of it all is kinda cool. A bit ... weird, and Karyn will definitely say that we fantasize too much! Craig denies that he was that ripped! Mosh doesn't remember it (selectively!!!). Bapu will remain silent ... the usual!

Have fun

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I thought this was going to involve Yoko. Shows what I know.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I'll check some of this out. I had forgotten about Spike Jones, he was ahead of his time.

Always loved Spike Jones.  I've got all of those examples from Pedro's post (except the cartoon music and, ironically, the Spike Jones which I used to have on vinyl).  I'd suggest that he play Psychonaut or Voyage next!

My biggest problem with that comedy from America in the early days, was that I did not speak enough English to have any idea what was going on, and of course, hearing it later, it was funny. Thus, I enjoyed stuff like Ernie Kovacks, because it was very visual, and quite similar to the GOONS, which you could visualize easily enough because of the sound effects.

Speaking of that ... the BBC totally stinks ... they have not YET, release a single CD with spike Milligan's effects that were used. Without half of those effects, the shows themselves would not be as much fun! I think the BBC is STILL angry at Spike for ruining 438 LP's of sound effects from their library and costing them a bundle to replace them!

But I DID get the LP's and only recently have I replaced them with CD's ... the triple LP of Spike Jones' stuff, still has stuff that the CD's don't, for example. The Goons, are still missing about 3 or 4 shows that used to be on fan's cassettes and such that have not shown up on CD.  I have a list at home, but I have lost 2 shows due to cassette deterioration!

Psychonaut is nice, and Celestial Ocean was a favorite album of mine for a long time, and the poster in my walls for over 30 years! But Cottonwood Hill was best and total fun around Halloween!
