Not New - but new to me UAD Chandler GAV-19T
I've yet to become a big fan of amplifier sims, I've tried several, but I still end up sticking a microphone or two in front of an amplifier or two and recording the tracks with all their amplifier and room glory<G>. There are two exceptions to that, I have an old Groove Tubes STP-G that provides a direct output that just nails the Classic Fender small amplifier sound. I also have an Adrenalinn 2 that has the coolest (if not most accurate) Vox sim. But neither of those is a plug-in, so my search continues.
And it is not over, but I tried, and ended up buying the UAD Chandlerr GAV-19T this past week, and maybe it is just the thrill of a new tool/toy, but this is my current favorite amplifier sim! It is capable of a wide range of sounds, from clean to various flavors of distortion, and they are all quite nice. In fact, I've yet to find a combination of settings that did not inspire me to play.
I don't know why I ignored it when it was introduced... sticks in my mind that the ENGL models were released about the same time, and they were a bit too heavy for my tastes, so maybe that's why.
Anyway, for any fellow UAD owners who play guitar, you might want to give this a spin if you have not already. It's pretty darned cool.
