How I spend my 'quality' time

I'm doing what I normally do if I have any say in it, drinking wine and playing synth.

This time is different though, I'm recording it!

Will alcohol unlock the musical genius within me? Only Sonar will tell! ;P

How many times have I told you?

When you are drinking, refrain from embarrassing yourself, this means not even posting in the coffee house!

Now look, even your sub-conscious is feeling the shame...

Have you noticed sometimes that a thread seems like a padded cell?

You can come out with all sorts of craziness, and maybe a few people look through the one way glass in amusement but basically you are in here on your own (hey! you forgot me your sub!).

Well, looks like it's just me and my shadow...

Surely Bapu can bring some 'relative' sanity to the cell?

IME, in sufficient quantities it's good at unlocking one's inner stupidity.

In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

A simple mistake maybe, but when I drink I forget I'm recording, and maybe it's a bit like the Copenhagen interpretation but the cat (music) is definitely more alive! =)

22 takes in, the experiment is providing fruit, whether the fruit is jam (quietly giggles to self about the pun) or some rotten heap of stinking compostable matter will only be know come the cold (hot) light of day (tomorrow or whenever I can be brave enough to listen to what happened).

Re: How I spend my 'quality' time 2015/07/05 10:46:00 (permalink)
Hi,

I would do a hit of sunshine, or purple haze and then play ... but I never drink ... have no taste buds for it at all, and it gives me timeless headaches the next day!

Recording it or not, is not an issue ... when I was experimenting with meditation and creativity, I found that in the end, if I recorded everything I ended up finding nothing and losing some perspective. Thus, I decided that I would not record all the sessions, and purposely let somethings go, to prevent the idea that "every moment is needed" or "important" ... (they aren't!!!) ... and this is the part that you have to teach yourself.

But we had about 100 hours of tapes, before I could finally figure out that taping everything was not important! The quality of effort and your concentration and such, WAS the most important part of it all! And this is really hard to measure when you are doing it for yourself, and this is where a "director" and an "outside" can help you the most, as long as they do not spent time worrying about the notes and chords, and instead, work on developing your feeling that creates the notes and chords ... in this case, the feeling is more important, because it is the "source".

I do not recommend alcohol, at all, btw, as it has a tendency to distort the body a lot more than other things out there. The "natural" drugs, would be much better for learning about your inner trip and how to work with it.

Remember "don Juan" ... when Carlos asked ... did I need the drugs? No, but we had to figure out a way to shut you up so you could see something else!

What else do you need to know?

Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I did about 50 recordings, will try and see what happened (if anything) next weekend.

I tend to find a little alcohol loosens me up to the extent I forget I'm being recorded and I get more creative...obviously there is a cut off point, through the 50 recordings I'll maybe find out when that was ;)
