E-drums crash Sonar X3/ Platinum

I am using an Alesis DM-Lite electronic drum kit with Addictive Drums 2 in Sonar.
Every time I record then play back the recorded MIDI from the drums it crashes Sonar. I thought this may be just an X3 issue but just in case in had now been fixed, I decided to buy a month's subscription to Platinum to try it out.
Unfortunately, the same thing happens.
I have spoken to Alesis and at length with XLN Audio and they both said that this is a Sonar issue. To put this to the test, I tried using the DM Lite (with AD2 for a fair comparison) in Ableton Live, and guess what? It worked perfectly.
I don't know if anyone at Cakewalk or any other users are aware of this problem or what may be causing it?
Thanks in advance,
Mike.

I'm using a similar set up but never experienced this problem. What audio card are you using? Maybe some info on your computer as well. Smart people here. I'm not one of them but if you give them as much information as you can I'm sure someone has the solution. Thanks. I'M IN MEMPHIS in case that's what your name implies. Peace

I have the Alesis DM10 Studio kit, and no problems with either X3e or Platinum.

Can it be some MIDI looping issue? If DM "echo" incoming MIDI to the output, that can create "busy MIDI loop" (Sonar->DM->Sonar->DB->...).
So, check that all MIDI tracks inputs are set explicitly (no Omni, they can pickup something unexpected then, like MIDI output from VSTi...). Check that no output is sent back to DM, explicitly or implicitly (so in is not the "default MIDI device").
I have no experience with DrumMaps in Sonar, but I remember many discussion about it. Do you use DrumMap?

Thanks azslow!
I turned off all MIDI outputs and so far so good! Cheers!
