CWBRN-33631 : SPLAT Project with Mschine 2.3 VST crashes upon re-open.

Simple 2 track midi project with no VST.
ADD instance of Maschine 2.3 VST
Save Project.
Open Project and Sonar crashes. 100% repeatable here.

    Just in case this is related to the one I have below, try disabling "always echo current MIDI track" in preferences. For whatever reason, I was getting CTD's both closing and opening projects and shutting that off seems to have resolved it.

    I also have this exact problem have already verified it too with mystic38. Is there anyone out there with machine 2.3 and sonar platinum that you can currently save and then reopen the project without it crashing. You can open up a new project and populated with machine 2.3 VST save and close it and when you reopen it it will crash every time. Machine and standalone mode works perfect sonar and standalone mode without machine works perfect

    I have tested this with Sonar x2, X3 and Platinum D, E, E1, F and all behave the same... any project with Maschine 2.3 VST will crash.. even a plain blank project with no data and just one instance of Maschine

    Cannot repro.
    OP needs to run windows update several times.
    Also attempt to run Sonar as Administrator.
     
    Should also try a VST reset:

    ... then get back to us with the results.
     
    Right now this appears to be a troubleshooting thread unless OP can supply better steps.

    After further investigation managed to recreate the crash, steps supplied not fully clear..
     
    1) New Sonar project
    2) Add simple instrument track with Maschine 2.3
    3) Drag in MIDI notes into simple instrument track.
    4) Play
    5) Move clips around
    6) Save and close
    7) Open project.

    So I recommend to...
     
    1) Run this (it's about a missing file but this could still resolve the issue as it is to do with C++ library)
    Note do 64 bit DLL NOT 32 bit:

    2) Then run windows update a few times (check optional updates as well, esp C++) making sure it is fully patched.

    I've done some more research and Exception code: 0xc0000409 is a stack exhaustion bug, running Sonar as Administrator might be a workaround:.

    More info...
     
    Others (on Maschine forums) have installed C++ libraries etc and run as Admin. This has made no difference.
    I notice Replika has similar C++ issues.
     
    Is there some sort of C++ incompatibility thing going on with Sonar as it seems to run with other DAWs?

    I agree because after following all the steps nothing is fixing this and I constantly keep my windows up to date. Plus nobody from cakewalk has even responded but I have had correspondence with NI but no solutions yet. Also let me bring you up to speed on the exact steps:

    1) Open project in sonar
    2) Open one instance of machine 2.3 VST and populate with massive or some other ni instrument
    3) Save project
    4) Open project and sonar crashes every time.

    Mystic38 and I have both duplicated this exactly. Also Mystic38 has reproduce this bug all the way back to Sonar X1.

    Here's a general question to all is anyone running sonar platinum up-to-date and maschine 2.3 VST not having this problem?

    Do you have any other suggestions?

    Fyi I could only repro with my steps. Regardless we now have three sets of steps on this thread so somebody should be able to reproduce it eventually.

    I'm not 100% sure this is a legacy issue.

    For anyone who suffers from this the current status is that I have been working with NI support on this.. and it is now escalated for attention by the devs at NI as support believes its an issue within the application

    However I can reopen the auto saved version of my project. Delete Maschine vst. Save the file. Insert Maschine 2,3 again and work through the night. Go through the same procedure the day after!

    aloha, i am also experiencing crashing with maschine 2.3 and platinum. before i try to figure our what doktor avalanche is saying: is this a fix that has worked for anyone? mahalo
