    Hi Gary,

I remember commenting on the original version a week ago...

Straight away, this new version sounds a touch louder. Did you track more vocals or have you just brought them up in the mix?

On few more listens, quickly switching between original and new, I prefer the new mix.

    Nice song Gary

    cheers

    Hi Gary,

What is it exactly that is bugging you about your song production? If someone else had produced this song, what would be your criticisms?

    cheers

    Hi Gary,

I've listened to your latest mix. I also switched between each of the two latest mixes, and to be honest, I can hardly tell the difference. Perhaps I don't have the ears for the detail you are picking out yourself.

What is it about these mixes that is stopping you from moving on? Is it a perceived lack of clarity in the vocals? I say "perceived" because, to me at least, your vocals come across okay. You could take some of the backing down a touch, I guess. And perhaps remove some of the lead guitar that plays over the vocals. But I'm at a loss myself really.

It's a pity we can't get some of the more experienced peeps popping in here for a listen...

    cheers

Sounds great to me Gary!  I'm with Andy in saying I don't understand what you think is wrong with the vocal.  It sounds quite clear.

If you really want the voice to be perceived more out front, you can always try a bit of subtraction.  By that, I mean using EQ to reduce some of the mid-range frequencies from the backing tracks (piano, guitar, strings).

What effects are you currently using on the vocal?  If you want them to sound more "personal", maybe a touch more compression would help.  Or perhaps it's as simple as adding a db or two more volume on the lead voice track. :)
