No clue what you guys have done in this new SONAR

I used to be able to RIGHT CLICK on a ANY note in staff view and the NOTE PROPERTIES would pop up. Now SONAR gets all picky and will not let me bring up the dialogue box for a particular note, only some of them. What is going on? SONAR 7 worked so much better.

Yeah the same is true in TV inline PRV. You used to be able to right-click notes to get props. Now w/ the smart tool selected the note gets deleted! Cakewalk has decided to reconfigure behaviors across the board w/ the new tool palette, and it's really wrecked my workflow. There's one and only one solution to this and that's to allow users to custom configure tool actions. BUT THAT WAS TAKEN AWAY.

Please people -- make some noise to bring back user-configurable drawing tools. It's been requested here and here:

All I can say is I got used to the new behavior. Took about a week. But then I've been using SONAR excessively since SONAR 6 (even though I do go back much further, not quite to the DOS days tho)

I've gotten used to it too, but that doesn't mean I don't remember how much faster pre-X sonar was than the current messed up tools.  Just speculating: perhaps some manager at CW decided that it would be good to have tools work similarly on audio clips and midi, but didn't have any idea of what midi was or how it was used?

"CW was into midi before" ... yes.   Alas, though, the guitarists took over, and it's been audio-for-the-guitar ever since.   About 20 years ago?

When you open up PRV, select the Select Tool instead of the Smart Tool.  Props will pop up in response to a right-click.

You can easily switch back/forth with F5/F6 for Smart/Select, or stay with the Select Tool if that has all of the old behavior the way you're used to.

Sorry, I'm not a heavy PRV user ... just trying to help

CW would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling guitarists.

Totally impossible.... Everytime that happens the FSF implodes upon itself thus generating a new morphing terminator robot version ;).

In response to the OP if you leave the smart tool enabled you can just hold the ctrl button when you right click and you will see the properties without changing the tool mode.

FWIW, I prefer the way the smart tool works as opposed to pre-audio CW versions PRV behavior.
