Thank you all for your replies!

Rikkie, thanks for having a listen.  It's good to hear from you.  I'm looking forward to hearing your latest.

Tony, this is high praise coming from you, the master of R & B.  I also look forward to hearing your latest.

In regards to the comments about streaming, I am rethinking my commitment to Soundclick.  In all honesty, my ears aren't as good as some of yours because I don't hear much difference in my own wave files and the compression added during conversion to mp3.  I do hear some difference, but it's small compared to the hundreds of cassette tapes that I used to mix to. LOL  Walt, I was unaware that one can load wavefiles to Soundclick, so I may give that a trial.  I'm sure it takes somewhat longer than an mp3 file, but I do have high speed internet, so we'll see.  I don't plan on selling my songs online, and just use this service to demo my songs, therefor, I'm not sure if I want to invest money in a monthly plan just to get higher quality mp3's.

Mostly, I'm surprised that my ears suck so much that I'm missing the differences in playback.  This is why I count on all of you to help me with your own golden ears.  Thanks again.

All the best,
Lynn

Lynn, I thought you had a paid account at SoundClick, maybe because of the way your player comes up and with no advertisements. Anyway, no matter what you upload, sound click will reduce it to a 128 file. All of my work is loaded as a 128 file and so doesn't require any conversion, at least that is what I have been told. I try to only upload completed work so the clarity stays the same, and I would never load a wave file to any site of music that I give away free. My wave files are mine and mine alone. Even if I were to sell disks, they would only be 320 files at best. Yeah, glad you did the harmonica on this, makes all the difference.

John, I may follow your lead and use 128k files, as well.  I was unaware of the double conversion and all that.  I know Youtube has pretty good resolution, so I may make more videos.  Thanks for your advice.

All the best,

Hi Lynn...your popular...sorry I've been really lazy...the master feels a tad too loud to me...the mix is clear and of course the playing and the singing is top-notch but there is to much energy in the low-mid's for me...I've been working really hard on my mixing and mastering lately and I've worked out if you get the gain staging right in the mix you can lower the gain stage on the master buss...this allows you to not have to compress your master too much and in-turn you still can get a big loud mix without it being too fatiguing...that's what I'm hearing here and on a couple of other tracks I've listened to today...the mixes are fatiguing to listen to-something I've had a problem with in the past and something I think I've fixed.  But as always I'm a fan...although I prefer the seventies style stuff you do :)

Ben, thanks for listening and taking the  time to give a detailed observation.  It's a delicate balance to get the overall mix loud enough without causing fatigue.  As for the low mids, I've trimmed them several times, and I have tried to reach a balance between too much and too little.

Gus, thanks for your time and kind words.  I, too, use the VRM box, and hope that it contributed to this in a positive manner.

All the best,
Lynn

It just keeps getting better Lynn. I enjoy listening to your music. So..thanks for posting this and keep up the good work.
BTW, I have not forgot the bridge song idea you gave me. It is setting on the stove slowly cooking at the moment...lol
