[PROOF Cake Rules!] Access to previous versions in our accounts for offline install?

EDIT: THIS HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED... and in approximately 24 hours of me posting this thread! How awesome is that?!! I'm not going to add another post yet so that people can see on the main thread list that Ryan has posted (which is always a better draw than my boring old handle... lol).

In the meantime, thank you, Ryan. This is indeed PROOF that Cake is listening and on our side. CHEEEEERS!!!!

Original Post...

I know I have mentioned this multiple times in various threads and I swear I will try not to keep harping on it but I could REALLY use download links for offline installs of versions I missed during the subscription period.

I know this may irk some but I have very specific reasons for wanting this. I'd like to think I am not known as a complainer but this would be very beneficial to me and I think others as well.

I simply do not use CCC. I have no current intention of installing it. I appreciate the effort that went into it and the convenience it provides to those who use it and maybe as it gets more refined I will reconsider my position on it (it is still in its infancy after all).

However I keep my DAW completely offline unless specifically (and manually) doing something necessary and try not to install anything I do not absolutely require. The option of being able to install "offline" just like we used to (with a few extra steps) is more than appreciated. But since we have moved to monthly updates I cannot keep up with things as much as I would like and I would rather focus my attentions on dealing with/learning DAW specific issues or doing my own work. Not wrangling with/learning an installer program.

My simple proposal is that download links be made available in our store account for each monthly version that is released, in perpetuity (meaning even AFTER the subscription expires links to those installers remain just like the old yearly releases do) so us offline installers can download them as needed. This could be some kind of dropdown where if the user clicks the main download header they get the last version made available during their subscription (to keep it simple for those who do not care). If they want a specific version/release they click a drop down and can peruse and choose the version they need.

This is exactly like how the CCC "rollback" feature works (as far as I can tell). Please allow us busy/paranoid/slacker/whatever to have the same option to pick and choose which release we need/want.

To put this into real life terms... I am currently on Dorchester. I intended to at least download Everett because after a month of watching the forum it seemed like the general consensus was it was reasonably stable (aside from a few this that's or the others). I have been ultra busy/ill and missed the deadline.

Now Foxboro looks great as well BUT we are also seeing some bugs/issues being reported that may not affect most users but will, in my workflow, affect me. As it stands I cannot access Everett which had issues that mattered not a whit to me... but as an offliner I cannot access it because it can only be accessed via rollback in the CCC... which I do not use... because as I said I keep my system offline and avoid installing programs that do auto weirdness stuff which could maybe bork out the delicate balance I've acheived on my working DAW.

Well... you get the point. I would just like to have access to those installs without installing CCC or constantly hooking up my DAW to the intertubes.

Sorry for my usual excessive verbiosity on this matter (I know this has become a bit of a running joke around here but I prefer to explain my thoughts thoroughly instead of not being clear right away) and of course I am not trying to cause any strife.

Just want our new awesomely flexible and constantly updated platform to be accessible to us offline weirdos too... and in this case for selfish reasons.

Thanks for reading and I appreciate all thoughts and suggestions on this. It is quite possible I am overlooking something and of course if that is the case I would like to learn about it.

Cheers.

Thanks for the support, John. As usual I am probably running into weirdo problems due to my weirdo nature thus making potentially weirdo requests but this really would be awesome.

Cheers.

Oh thank you so much, Ryan.

It may seem silly but this will ease a lot of anxiety in my chaotic little universe. Just seeing those words on screen has lifted a weight.

You guys rock!

That is beautiful and exactly what I need.

I am now in my third year after taking the leap into the Sonar family (and ignoring some of the stereotypical sentiments about it). It has been getting better and better and better with the past year or so jumping light years ahead.

All I can say is you guys are doing a heckuva a job and it is appreciated.

Thank you.

Dear, BassMommy.

The Cakewalk Forum will be taking a class trip to Super Awesome Wicked Husband Land. This trip is intended to teach the students how to:

  • Develop listening skills for enrichment of interpersonal relationships
  • Learn how to plan, organize and execute romantic dinners and weekend getaways
  • Please and placate In Laws to reduce problematic and frustrating phone communications
  • Massage feet and shoulders like a professional (with an extra course component for self scalp massage to reverse any receding hairline issues)

Please reply with your consent for BassDaddy to participate in these activities. We also require BassDaddy update his musical gear in any way he deems necessary to acheive maximum results. He can provide you with a specific list of what is required and we highly encourage all items be purchased.

Beep, I am humbled by the depth and detail of your response. I should be a "BassGrandDaddy" today or tomorrow so I will show my wife the response while she is riding an emotional and hormonal roller coaster. I will show it to her on the laptop. "this is real, it's on the internet, so...". This could be good for my waiting room research. "calling Dr. Gibson, Dr. Fender, Dr. Paul Reed Smith". But concerning your BassMommy comment, I wear the man panties in my family mister and I pull them up as high as I can.

I thought you were calling me BassMommy because of my alleged fear of my wife. I see it was addressed to her. I may not be able to finish this edit , she wants me t
