real-time assignable tempo control
we had real-time tempo control in the very earliest pre-sonar cakewalk over 30yrs ago - what came over the software developers?

yeah, but that's when it was midi-only. It's easy when it's just midi data. I had Cakewalk for DOS when i was 14. must have been 1989 or 1990. Audio is another matter. Still, this is the area where sonar needs to catch up. I am otherwise a fanboi and successful daily user.

but they didn't keep the real-time tempo control for MIDI alone... back to the stone age besides, other softwares can change audio tempo & pitch i use sonar because i need lyrics prompting for live performance ps. i presently need to type R 3 times quickly for an audio recording to take (i had to work that out myself: support could not help)

That's 3 questions now and all are pretty basic. Do the tutorials.

how will the tutorials help? it cannot be done... it's official from support and let's stick to the subject, instead of throwing around sweeping general invectives...

Well sir, one of the problems is you don't seem to want to accept what is offered. When did you start using CW? What version do you have? What are your system specs? Have you started a project? It is very hard to deal with such an open question with no specifics to go on as to what the heck is that you want. And the question in the OP is, "what came over the software developers?". That is a question that was asked with the intention of not being answered at all, or by those who agree with your stance. In other words, rhetoric.

please read more carefully: "it cannot be done... it's official from support" my cakewalk pro audio did it with MIDI, no sonar ever could...nothing to do with specs, or version... i was advised by support, to post these issues, because they said the developers pay more attention to the posts, than they do to support reports...

reasonable question, since this ESSENTIAL feature was there in pre-sonar cakewalk... still curious for an answer

This is still a peer to peer forum and the developers don't come here as a matter of routine. While it's true that they post here there's no guarantees. If you want a response from them you best send an email or go to the feature and ideas forum and put in a feature request.

@Karyn: Original Cakewalk and Pro Audio versions had a "Tempo Offset" feature that would allow you to scale the tempo(s) on playback in MIDI-only projects (i.e. using only hardware synths and MIDI metronome) by one of three user-specified factors. It wasn't compatible with audio before real-time stretching was implemented so it was removed at some point in the SONAR era (IIRC) because it was so often not useful, and was always grayed out automatically in projects with soft synths or other audio (including the audio metronome). Even after audio stretching was implemented, the feature was not brought back.
