new Distant Towers song, Weight of the Words
Hey folks, hope all is well. Distant Towers has a new song called Weight of the Words. We hope that you will give it a listen and give us your honest opinion about the mix, content, whatever.....all words welcome be they kind or bad. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13162232 Tom has been unable to log into his CW account since June 1st and I am hoping to help him get logged back in. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I have used the FAQ and thus far had no luck. The trio responsible for this mess... Tom McCaffrey: Vocals, bass guitar, synths, voices, mixing, general mayhem and madness Preston Richardson: Drums, drum engineering and the general pounding of anything slightly musical Tony Wood: Guitars and nuttin' else Thanks as always for any listens/crits.

I'm already a fan... Love those strong vocals. This one is quite dance-worthy... Nice guitar work, and everything really. I don't think I'd change anything in the mix and it sounds fine on my cans. cheers andy

Hey, Tony, How's it going, Bro? Hope you and the guys are all doing great! I can't believe my first time back to the Songs Forum in over six months, and it looks like a bunch of the old crew are popping back in, that's a really nice surprise. It's always a real treat to catch a new Distant Towers rocker, and this is one dynamite butt-kicker with clever writing, top notch playing, excellent vocals and harmonies, super tasty guitar work, great drums and a totally pro sounding mix! I really like the subtle synth fills and pads and the tasty guitar solo with the pickup switching during the sections, the mix is warm, punchy and really well textured. Fantastic work, boys, you've hit another home run! Be sure to tell Tom and Preston I said hi, and keep in touch, Tony! Bob

Cool combination of rock and electronics. I also get a bit of a Metallica vibe, mainly from the vocals, while the break at 2:11 is anything but. Overall... good stuff, and well done.

I love music that is outside the mainstream. This is the kind of rock for musicians because it is very dense and polyrhythmic. It puts you guys at the top of the class!

Awesome tune my friend! I'm not hearing a lot of shimmer from the cymbals - but that could be soundclick or my sorryass hearing. I love the arrangement.

Love the music... The mix is really well done, but I'd like a little more "bottom" from the bass, or at least the kick. Great tune guys! Regards, Dan

Nice driving energy on this one. This may be just personal taste, but something about the vocals didn't sit right. It's the same singer doubling his own vocal, right? As it's in a pretty low register, I'm not sure that technique flatters this particular vocalist. I use that technique on my stuff, but I'd like to hear your vocalist undoubled just to see if it improved things. That's a silly critique perhaps, but it's what I noticed the most. Most listeners will - not - care !!! This song is mostly about that driving energy and it certainly has that for days. Cool stuff. cheers, -Tom

finally listening on something better than laptop speakers...sounds really good in the main. plus: guitar sound and playing the little electronic elements really work in both filling the sound and expanding the soundscape vocals - your tone is difficult to mix in as it competes with the guitars but you got it spot on bridge section- good change-up (or rather down) of dynamics minus: kick drum sounds a bit too thin for me, needs more of a thud i'd like the final chorus to have more weight -maybe add a synth of some description? but it's the usual DT goodness people saying some Metallica vibe..???????????????????

I have to agree Mark, I don't get that at all. For me, it's the usual comforting and unsettling blend that is Distant Towers...love it.

Just wrote a whole thing and the laptop somehow wiped it. So, "weight of the words" been on my shoulders too many times after talking when I shouldn't. Great line and the tune is very cool, as always. A very nice treat after a long absence. Thanks.
