I think your Little River Band comparison is pretty close, I didn't feel the Chicago that much. Oh well. Vocals seem pretty together - I think your splash cymbals might be a little loud, but at least they are panned well.

I think you might look at one of your "three part" vocal harmonies on the outtro, something wasn't blending quite as nicely, I think it's the high one, maybe just a hair flat in spots? Paging Dr. Melodyne?

I liked your arrangement, it kept the interest going. Nice tune, a throwback to the 70's I'm a thinking!

cheers,
-Tom

Hi Ron,

I'm not familiar with the Little River Band I'm afraid.

Vocals are great.

Overall this is a good song, and all in the MIDI domain, except for the vocals of course. Nice one

cheers

Ron, this sounds huge on my system.  I think the vocals sound good and tight and give the song life.  The reverb that you used on the guitar is interesting, though, you might be able to turn the mix down a little and still get the same effect.  Otherwise, way coool.

All the best,
Lynn

Tom, thanks for the listen. I'll take another look at the bgv. Trying to get the harmonies right over the 6/7/9/chords I used in the final chorus was a little iffy. I really appreciate your ears on this. Arranging it , I tried to build all the way to the final chorus at 5 minutes so I wouldn't make anybody snooze or worse, click off. Yep the 70's tunes still ring my chimes..................thanks again for the review...................Ron

Andy, thanks for your time and comments. The Little River Band's "Night Owls' has always been a favorite of mine, you might check them out sometime. On this tune, I double tracked the lead voice and panned them 50/50. Just a small room verb so it wouldn't get lost in the jumble..........glad you liked it..........Ron

Lynn, I admire your work and appreciate your insight on my tune. I don't quite understand your "reverb on the guitar" suggestion but I'll give it a try. Thanks for the thumbs up on my tune............Ron

Ron, the first time I listened to this I played it at low volume.  This morning I cranked it up, and everything fell into place.  This is a cool song, and I take back my comment on the reverb.  It makes sense to me, now.

All the best,
Lynn

Nice retro-rocker, I like the arrangement and vocals (although the end harmonies were a bit wobbly IMHO) - good job!

gcolbert,  Glad you listened and even gladder you liked it.  Yes I played the guitar parts on keys. They're nothing like a real guitar but the Musiclab Realstrat was a good investment and I have barely scratched the surface on what's all in this Vst. Great for writing guitar parts....almost believeable and amazing Youtube performances by the really accomplished users.....check some of them out.....thanks again.........Ron.

Hi, Ron,

I really love the sound of this progressive retro rocker with a cool late 70's vibe!

Excellent composition and playing, I really like the piano, vocals and bass, and I'm shocked that those great drums came out of the TTS-1!  You've got a nice, full sounding punchy mix, too.

Great stuff, Ron!

Wow!1 The intro had me expecting a whole different tune. Really sweet and refreshing! Puts me in the mind of The Beach Boys... 2015

Lynn, thanks for taking the time to answer. Another set of ears is so nice to have. Mixing decisions are usually a thorn in my side. I'm always impressed and grateful with the help I get from this forum............thanks, Ron.
