[Solved] M-Audio Oxygen 61 - how to use transport buttons in MC7?
Hi all! I'm having a problem with Oxygen 61 (see subject). I've read the knowledgebase and do everything stated here, but it does not work. I try to add my keyboard as a control surface, then try to specify "In" and "Out" ports, but they are not saved when I press "Apply" button - these ports become empty immediately after "Apply". What can be the problem? I also contacted Cakewalk support yesterday, but still no answer. Maybe someone here has a solution meanwhile? Thanks and Regards, Amegatron. edit: updated subject, added [Solved] - scook

Do you see Control Surface plug-in in brackets (like "(Generic Surface)")? The plug-in is either not found or has broken dependencies (some MS library).

Thanks for the reply! Indeed, "ACT MIDI Controller" and "Generic Surface" are in brackets when I try to add them. Also I checked the Plug-in Manager and the "filename" field is empty in all "Control Surface" plugins, so I suggest there is simply no such plug-ins in my installation? I'm using Steam version of MC7. If so, where do I get them?

it will have to be added as an ACT MIDI controller, there will not be a separate controller plugin specifically for the oxygen. what do you mean ACT and Generic are in "brackets" when you try to add them - I don't see the brackets in the picture you included.

My controller is normally added in MC7 and I can properly use it to record MIDI-tracks: But as azslow3 noted, there are brackets around the ACT MIDI controller: And I cannot specify In and Out ports. As a result, MC7 does not react to my transport buttons on keyboard.

No one responding so far, including myself use Steam for Cakewalk products. This might be better handled on the Steam discussion board or by tech support. I can tell you the control surface dlls in a standard installation are located in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Surfaces" but I have no idea where Steam installs files.

I see. yes, it should show up in the list as a MIDI input/output device, but it will not show up as a MIDI controller, you'd need to use the ACT MIDI controller as a control surface device. but I don't know why your ACT MIDI controller control surface file is not being found (which is what it means by it putting it in parentheses). and it won't let react to the transport buttons until you are able to select IN ports and OUT ports in that bottom screen (and the "()" will not be around the ACT MIDI Controller name). as scook said, tho, none of us who use Steam, so you might need to post this over there to find out where your control surface files are for ACT.

Okay, thanks for all your answers. Indeed, this is a specific x64-Steam issue and gladly there is a solution on steam discussions :) For those who will also face this problem I post the link to steam thread with the solution. This thread may be closed. P.S. Forum does not allow me to post links :( The thread on steam is called "FAQ: Common issues, solutions, and Q/A.". Hope everybody can find it.
