Appalachian Folk_Louise Mosrie_"Blackberry Winter"
Engineered and co produced Louise's album "Home" a few years back, a pure joy to have a hand in. Recorded on a different platform (Mackie SDR2496) but mixed in S6 Producer, using primarily Sonitus and Waves Renaissance plugins. All instruments are real, no virtual content or MIDI here......old school. I do have permissions to share streaming format. https://www.reverbnation.com/sonicsculptureinc/song/7664180-blackberry-winter-by-louise-mosrie

Thank you James. She's in the UK on occasion, has family there, don't know if she's done any touring there, though. Love your signature/comment by the way. Where can I order a pair? :)

sounds really good. love the warm yet still tight tone of the acoustic. fiddle is also well done and you do this whilst also making the vocal mainstage. not my genre at all but enjoyed this.

Thanks mgh. I give the credit to the players and their instruments. I always record without EQ or compresssion and use them as sparingly as possible when mixing. No ultra high end gear used, but my room had magic air in it (in a new space now and equally as lucky) as well as some acoustical treatment.

A masterful piece of work, from performance to end product. Not something I would normally listen to, but I'm sure glad that I did. cheers andy

Very nice. I understand the style but for my taste the vox were just a tad too dry.

Vocals were done in a large, live room. It is amazing how dry they sound in context, in solo they sound anything but dry. Certainly a subjective call, I like the intimacy of a dry vocal for a ballad like this. Appreciate the feedback!

Geez, you are lucky to have a room(s) that sounds like that! Very clear. I kinda like the dryness of the vocals too, only because everything is very "present".

One of the best female vocals I've heard in a while. I really enjoyed this. If she's ever touring in Phoenix let me know!

She really has a special voice. I know she gets to Texas and Colorado a few times a year, think she was in Albuquerque not too long ago. She posts tour dates on her website.

I had to work really hard to come up with a criticism! I'd say the bass is just a bit too present in spots. But honestly that could be my Mackie 824 monitors, they hype the bass a little. So, nevermind. Fantastic song, great vocalist, well mixed! cheers, -Tom

Tom, it was mixed on 824's. The bass does sit more in context on a home system.

Ah, then it truly is a perfect mix!!! I should have known that "too prominent" on the 824's means "perfectly placed" in the real world of speakers! :) nice one! -Tom

This is a very well done mix...yes there are some things one might do differently but not better IMHO. This sounds like it has been mastered...ready for pressing. Nice!
