Smart Tool on Drum pane

Why does click+drag behavior changes notes duration on drum pane? It is rarely needed to change drum notes duration. And the main drawing functionality do it, and if duration visibility is switched off, it leads to random durations. It would be much more useful, at least for drums, if click+drag would change notes start instead of duration.
