New feature request. Dual action solo button in Sonar.

Hi, I think it would be very helpful if the track solo button had two modes of operation.
Mode one (single click) would be the normal solo track action of muting all other tracks, but:
mode two (click and hold the solo button) would just dim all other tracks by a set volume reduction (in prefs).

This would mean when soloing an instrument you could still hear the backing tracks but at a reduced level,  so you still have a reference when editing; especially useful when editing midi data.

Have you tried enabling the Dim Solo button in the Mix module (H in the image below) and the "Dim Solo Gain" in Preferences > Audio > Driver Settings while using the existing solo buttons?

Cheers for the reply. I have Sonar professional and it has the dim option in the audio preferences but no button like you marked 'H'.

It depends on the size of the Mix module see http://www.cakewalk.com/D...lp=ControlBar.07.html#

The function is also exposed but not bound to a shortcut by default. To add a keyboard shortcut, go to Preferences > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts, search for dim in the Global area. This should show the "Dim Mode Solo" function. Select and bind a key combination for the function. To see "Keyboard Shortcuts" make sure the Advanced radio button is set at the bottom of the Preferences dialog.

Unless there is something else, I suggest editing the initial post and changing the title to "How to use Dim Solo Mode? [Solved]"

Then I will move this thread to the SONAR area.
