Golden ears means you are attentive, you hear everything, you can separate music from the non-music. You can judge what calls to make for the better of the project instead of putting your own personal stamp on something. You can remain biased yet informative and as close to the music as the creator. You have a knack for album creation that goes beyond just eq-ing, compression and fixing noises and oscillations etc. You are a musician that is into several styles of music so you know how to handle the different genre's and client needs. That's the guy I want as my ME.

Amen.
This is a big reason why I have a great engineer/producer mixing and mastering my stuff.  As well as giving me a well-polished master product, he's hearing the instruments in a different way than I did when i wrote, arranged, and recorded it.  His mixing input has led some of my songs to very unexpected paths, as he has focused on parts that weren't always meant to be dominant (or my favourite).
I'm usually too attached by the time the recording is done, and it's been really helpful to have an impartial musician glue it together.

Good to see you're still around Danny!

I for one like to see different angles on a subject. Even if I don't agree. I think you have some of the very best advice offered on this forum. I hope you keep coming around man!
