Is The Upgrade To Strum Session 2 Worth It?

I have the old Steinberg Virtual Guitarist 2 plus the Scarbee Funk Guitarist. Later this year I plan on maybe getting either Rob Papen's Rhythm Guitar Synth, Musiclab's Real Guitar or one of the others. I can't afford to waste money. Even as little as $50 is a big deal right now.

I want to be able to create funky rhythm parts and convincing acoustic parts. Is this software capable of doing that? I've plaid with the version that comes with Sonar only to have gotten unusable results. Ended up going back to Virtual Guitarist 2. I guess my question is, is this just more of the same or is the upgrade actually useful?

Thanks guys!

For one thing it includes both acoustic and electric.

That's cool. I like that about it. I just couldn't get the Sonar version to sound good. And, usable funky, Nile Rodgers, Roger Troutman, Prince style guitar parts were out of the question. But I'm not a guitar player so it's possible I just don't know what the hell I was doing. The acoustic parts I tried to do weren't usable either.

Was thinking maybe there are options in the upgrade that make it more usable.

Depends what you're trying to do - or how you're trying to do it.  One important new option is keyboard mode which let's you play Strum as a conventional (more or less) keyboard instrument.  I wrote a fairly in-depth review you can read here if interested:
