I have 1 pcie x16 slot available and would like to purchase a usb card. Can someone suggest /recommend a suitable card?

Would defnitley need it to be usb 2.0. if possible a usb addition would be useful too!'

btw can usb 2 cables use usb 3.0 slots?

thanks!

I'd save the PCIe slot and get a USB desk hub. I've got one and love it.

USB 2 cables can use USB 3.0 slots but they won't give you the same speed as they are different cables.

I recently added a StarTech PCIUSB7 to my Win8.1x64 system and it's doing great.  I'm using it in conjunction with the USB provided by the MB.

EVERYTHING has a USB port these days.  Some things are fine on hubs, some aren't.

Check your motherboard first. There may be a spare internal USB pin socket that you could connect to an external USB socket panel (I hope that's the correct terminology). Don't waste the PCIe x16 slot unnecessarily.
