[Solved in Hopkinton] Selecting a range on the timeline bug in Gloucester???

If I select a range of time on the timeline and then click on a track, that range does not become highlighted nor can I perform any operations on that track.
If I select a range of time on the track, then it does become highlighted.
Something broke...

I thought range select for specific tracks worked the other way around... as in you select the track(s) first THEN do the range select. This tripped me up for years. Doing it the other way around resulted in the whole length of the selected track to overide the original range selection.

What tool are you using to select with? When I use the smart tool I can select anything I want with the time line as the time selection or not.

Same result with the Smart Tool or Select Tool.

hmm... Can you post steps for others to reproduce? I don't have Gloucho installed myself but if selection has been borked best if the community confirms so a hotfix can be worked on ASAP.

Oh and try in a new project as a test control.

Cheers.

I reverted to Foxboro on my daw and it works as expected in Foxboro but left Gloucester on my laptop for further testing.

And you're still on Win7 Pro... right?

This Win 10 update does concern me a little. I'm still convinced a large part of the issues I had with X2 were related to the Win8 stuff they crammed in prematurely. Not saying that's it... just sayin'.

Repro steps:
New project
Drag two separate audio files into the project.
Select a portion from the timeline and then select the first track you dragged in.
Or select a portion from one of the two tracks and then try to change tracks.
Or try to select both tracks...

Hi, Keni. Yeah that seems to produce an export of eveything when no tracks are selected but if you range select with nothing selected then select a track the track selection overides the range selection... or has been my experience in the past. I could be mistaken though. Working from memory.

Hope you've been well. Cheers.

yes, I can select both tracks and the selection from the timeline is highlighted in both tracks. Or I can select either track alone with same result.

I may have this a bit wrong. I'm on 8.1 on my Desktop.

If I select a length of time via of the time line and then select a track the entire track is select and overrides the time line selection. However if I select the track first then select the length on the time line it is selected on the track. I can then add tracks the that selection. I am using the smart tool.

Bob are you unable to make any selection using the time line? What about doing a selection on the track? Is that working?

Best

Hi Beepster...

No... When I use a time range on the timeline, i always select the tracks to include after setting the time range... And i get what i expect...

I just installed gloucester on my laptop but havent played with it yet as im on battery until generator time this evening... But the laptop is win8 (keeps failing the 8.1 install)... Tonight i will install on my DAW (win7Pro) and see what happens there...

I hope something good is happening for you... I'm still in limbo on the best of days! <sigh>

No problems here with selection of any number of tracks and time range in any order. In case it matters, I'm selecting by sweeping in the timeline and sweeping and/or Ctrl-clicking track numbers.

On a per track basis, I can workaround that but I can't make a selection on more than one track...

I can select a range on more than one clip per track not using the timeline but then I can't deselect one of the tracks.
This is so goofy!

I fear I may have caused a bit of a divergence in the thread which might ruin the testing capacity (and I can't test properly myself right now) so I'll post this and be gone.

I think that maybe the Ctrl select may be the difference between keeping a range select active when selecting tracks. I'll check that out tomorrow.

@Keni... things have gotten slightly more reasonable here. Not much but I'll take what I can get. Gotta stay hopeful I guess and plow through the sh*t times. Better days may or may not be coming for any one of us so I just pretend like they are and it helps me through the bad. Good vibes your way as always.

Now back to our regularly scheduled troubleshooting (and hopefully not bug report) thread.
