[Solved] Changing the Default Template

How do I change the Default template to a previously created template of my own? Or can I ? I know under the "new" selection the option is there to set a different template as default from the generic list, but is there a way to add mine to the list or am I only allowed to change to one of those already on the list?

Save your custom template to the template directory, which is under 'Cakewalk Content' by Sonar version.  It will then show up in the New Project dialog for selection.  As an example, the correct directory in my system is, "D:\Cakewalk Content\SONAR Platinum\Project Templates"

Save it as Normal.cwt. I recommend renaming the original Normal.cwt as Default Normal.cwt to preserve it.

Starting with Gloucester any template can be the default template. It is no longer necessary to rename the template to normal.cwt. Use the new project dialog, select a template and click the "Set as Default Template" button.

You have to get the template into the correct directory as previously described in order for it to show up here.

Yes, the path to project templates is displayed in Templates on the Preferences > File > Folder Locations page.

For what is worth you can also use a CWP file as a blank template. I don't think there's a difference other than it is easy to forget to rename it before re saving. Templates ask you?  I open them , and immediately "save as" to the location folder I want it in and re name.
Simply take a project that has all you normally use and delete all the track audio and midi data etc and save it as
" Blank Live Recording.CWP"
I told the opening dialog box to go away years ago and always use the "File" / Open"  pathway.
For a few reasons, one I'm usually returning to the same project so its on the top off the list, and two, I can quickly find my blank CWP's as they are in the default "open" location.
As always, there's more than one way to work and it's nice to have lots of options.
I find track templates are super handy but havn't used a regualr template for years now.

I got it! The pathway I was using was wrong. Never went to "Content" . works great! Now when I start anew I don't have to search for my template! Thanks guys!

It is OK. I don't mind doing it when asked.

Yes, all there is to it is editing the original post and modifying the subject line.
