Can't Export To OMF
Hi everybody. I cannot for the life of me figure out why I can't export OMF files. I've tried all the different options in the dialog box. It looks like it's doing something. The transport window says mixing down, copying, etc., but when it's all done, there is absolutely nothing in the destination folder. I'm selecting all tracks before I click Export. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? BTW I'm using Splat Foxboro. Thanks for your help!

Is it under file save as?
Are you looking for it with Windows explorer?

Hi Geoff. Thanks for the reply. Nope it's not under Save As, just under Export. And I did use Windows Explorer, but its not showing anything. It is worth mentioning, that the export process didn't take very long, which kinda made me suspicious.

I export OMF files constantly, and have with every version of Sonar . No different than exporting a wav. Make sure you are saving or exporting to the folder you think....I'm guessing you are overlooking a silly mistake as we are all prone to do. Are you exporting audio or just midi files to your OMF? If you are doing midi you need to freeze all your soft synths.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I'm following the instructions that you linked to Reece, but nothing. I can tell it's doing something, but nothing shows up in the destination folder. I'm sure you're right, Jimbo. I have to be making some kind of mistake, but I tried it 4 times, making sure of the destination folder I was choosing. I'm baffled...
P.S. I'm exporting both audio and MIDI. I forgot about freezing the synths, but shouldn't the audio have still exported?

I would have thought the audio would have exported, but I don't know the expected behavior in that case. what happens if you try freezing the synths first? also, make sure that for whatever reason your destination folder is not "read only."

I just tried it and it created an omf file and then a folder full of wav files. Next I tried it with embedded waves and that worked too. There was a long log before they were created in the destination folder. Presumably they were being staged somewhere first. I tried to guess at the folder in which they were being staged before moved to the final destination, but I was not able to guess. I twice got 'unknown error due to invalid parameter', but the omfs were eventually created.

I tried it with a different song, and it works just fine. There must be something in the other song that's hanging it up. Thanks for all the help everyone!

I'm not an expert on OMF, but could something like a groove clip or REX file not be recognized and screw things up?

That's a good idea Craig. I don't have any in this song though, unless I made something a groove clip by accident. But that gives me something to investigate. Thanks!

Even Audio snap can interfere with creating an OMF. Another thing to look for is if you have any Melodyne regions active?

Thanks mudgel! I don't use Melodyne, and I didn't consciously enable audiosnap on any tracks, but you never know. I may have accidentally hit a wrong button. It gives me another avenue to investigate. Thanks again!
