Stylus RMX out of sync

Hi, Sonar X3 user. I've been using RMX with Sonar for years with no problems.
All of a sudden it's gone out of sync when triggering in the Slice Menu. If I select Next Beat or Next 16th or Next Bar it doesn't trigger on cue when I hit RMX's play button.
If I drop a midi file from RMX into Sonar it works fine but it's just not syncing when I'm trying to audition beats.

Any clues as to what might be the problem?

A large buffer size can cause this problem.  Go to preferences, audio, driver settings, to check.  Try a smaller buffer size if you can.

As shawker says, check your latency settings. It would be easier to help if you shared your specs. Audio interface (and which drivers), CPU, RAM etc.
    Best of luck.

Thanks but buffer setting is only 64 samples as it is.....I tried 32 but the audio started suffering and no change anyway.

Interface is a Focusrite Scarlet 18i20
    8Gb RAM
    Processor Intel i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40GHz

As I mentioned, everything has been working fine for months - this has just come out of the blue.

What happens if you increase the buffer to 128? Could it be that your session is getting bigger, and need more time to compensate? You should still be getting around 10ms RTL.
What is your MIDI playback buffer? Try to increase, or decrease it.
    Best of luck.

Are you using the latest ASIO drivers, downloaded from focusrite?

Do you have a way to try Stylus outside of Sonar?  I use savihost so I have a standalone version of Stylus to play around with.  This may help narrow down where the problem lies.  It doesn't sound like Sonar is the problem if the midi file plays Ok there.

Do you have any Stylus settings in Time Designer or Chaos Designer that could affect the timing?

    Yes I am

No - I've tried using RMX in a fresh project on its own and the problem still occurs

It is under preferences (P), Playback and Recording, under playback. Try to change it up or down. Mine is set at 500ms. (had this at 500ms on my old pc as well),It could be different with your pc.
    Best of luck.

I seem to recall having this issue many years ago,  if I remember correctly it had to do with tempo changes.  Do you have tempo changes in your project?

    Cakewalk By Bandlab
    Cubase 9.5 Pro
    Windows 7 64 Bit   Core i7-8700   32 Gig Ram 3.20ghz

Dumb sounding question, but does it work in Groove Mode in sync when playing live in X3?

Yes, Groove Mode triggers immediately as determined by MIDI note (from either keyboard or MIDI track) – this appears to be fine.

Actually no, it's doing the same thing in Slice Menu

It's been a long time since I've heard of the need for a RMX reinstall, but if you're not having any latency problems with the stuff in X3 (or whatever else you have), then I'd consider it.   I never had any problems with Spectrasonics stuff in X3 though.  Good luck to you.
