New (to me) artist: Thundercat. Very cool vids!

I just came across this bass player, Thundercat, in an email from BassPlayer magazine. Gotta love it. Leastwise, I do.

Three links: 1) to the original BassPlayer [dot] com post, 2) direct YouTube link to the music video of his first single, Them Changes (NOT to be confused with the Buddy Miles version, and which I recommend you watch first), and 3) direct YouTube link to a live performance of Them Changes in New Orleans.

I love unique musicians, and this guy QUALIFIES! I hope you have a widescreen monitor. The aspect ratio of the music video is nuts. Also, there's one hilarious crowd shot at 2:15 into the live video. Those dudes are GEN U WINE. Well, as genuine as a bunch of free or cheap Jim Beam will make you. Jamming to Thundercat? Hell, those guys would dance on a dumpster to the sound of their best friends talking to Ralph on the big white phone.

Welp...perhaps you could hip us as to just what it is that "jazzes" you about this fellow or his videos/song. Genuinely curious.

Watched the live vid, it was OK. Like a laid-back Level 42.

There's just something about a whack job playing a bass in a strange way as a lead instrument that gives this ol' geezer hope!
