And I've got none of them. This is the end.

I'm with you Mr. Fleer and don't have any of those as well. Although I haven't done much reading on FabFilter's comp & Melda's, I found it interesting that they thought Melda's was easy to use vs. Fabfilter's version.

I have two out five of them and, quite honestly, there are others I like better.

Got a thing with Dutch plug-ins. Not a good thing, mind you. Maybe 'cause I understand the language
Still very much into Slate, IK and NI comps. Might go for that Klanghelm MJUC everyone is raving about. But that might be the exact reason not to.

Didn't we just put this topic to rest recently?

It's yet another arbitrary "best of" list with no supporting data, only a mention of a few key features. 7x-500 has a high-pass sidechain filter and a wet/dry mix knob. That's like claiming a given automobile is one of the top 5 because it has 4 wheels AND a radio. Ditto for the 2x oversampling feature cited for PSP Mastercomp, which every compressor in the world today has.

I will agree that Melda's MModernCompressor is quite good. But if you're one of those folks who already find Meldaproduction UIs confusing, you're really not gonna like this one - it's idiosyncratic even by Melda norms. Melda's own MDynamics is a much more full-featured compressor.

Hearing that FabFilter was represented, I assumed Pro-C would be on the list. (It has a high-pass sidechain filter too! And a low-pass as well.) But instead they include Pro-MB, which isn't even a compressor in its default mode (it's a dynamic equalizer) and isn't best-in-class in either category.

You have to wonder about the motivations of whoever put that list together.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Some online reviews are just written to get more attention from Google searches. The more words generated by your company, the higher you go in Google ratings. People are desperate for content to get more traffic onto their site and a good article or a laundry list could fit the bill.

Professional reviewers are an established breed. I read one online article about Marshall amps and could tell right away that the writer had just taken all the key points from a dozen other articles. When I looked at a link to other reviews from the author they included the real housewives of Atlanta and some Martha Stewart stuff.

You get what you pay for.
