You need to redeem the Addictive Drums product code Cakewalk supplied, see http://www.cakewalk.com/S...tallation-Instructions

Thanks  It says product key.  All I found was the serial number.  Is that what they are referring to?

In this case, the serial number is the product key. XLN does not use serial numbers and Cakewalk does not have a product key column in their database.

Thank you.  Meanwhile I now can't get any sound of addictive drums.  try to run the demos and it is silent.  I had sound before.  I checked to see that nothing is solo'd etc.  hmm

Query: Did you use your Sonar s/n or the number for the Addictive Drums entry in your account? Been a while so I don't recall exactly how that all looks/works but yeah... AD2 is essentially given to you as a standalone you need to redeem and register through the XLN site just like you would if you bought it directly from them.

You need to create an XLN account and all that. There are also some screwy tricks to using their site/verification scheme. Like you can only do it using certain web browsers (set as your default during the install process), you have to ease up some security settings (and you have to do it on the DAW... you can't transfer a code or something)... yadda yadda yadda.

It's a big ordeal and you really gotta jump through some hoops especially if you are like me and keep your DAW offline and use something like Firefox as your default browser.

Once it's installed and registered though it's a great sounding program and you can totally disconnect from their site.

BTW... the PITA part has nothing to do with Cakewalk. It's all XLN's weirdness. Not sure what their deal is but they definitely made the process crazy as frack for no readily apparent reason.

I used the ADDictive drums one.  Ya it was a pain to install it too.  I had to mess around and move the vst32 bit path.  which was confusing as hell.
I do have an account but my product still starts as a demo.  I will contact their support.
