Problems loading audio interface drivers
Hopefully someone can solve this for me, ive spent half of my day trying to figure this out. first off i recently switched to Sonar Platinum. Love it! the problem is that i also have changed my audio interface to a Tascam us-16x08. i set up everything i needed (drivers) on my laptop with no problems, but i can't get drivers loaded on my desktop. it fails over and over. says this version of windows cannot run a driver without a digital signature. (i'm running windows 7 pro on both laptop and desktop, again laptop NO PROBLEM) i'm not sure what i am doing wrong. do i uninstall sonar platinum and start from the beginning? i've got a total of 10 usb ports, 8 in the back and 2 in the front. i have tried almost all of them and unplugged everything else except the mouse and keyboard. i thought maybe it needed to be run as admin? nope. any help appreciated. PS i can't think of any other programs that might be conflicting and i am not using norton or anything like that

yes, i've used the one directly from tascams website and saved it to desktop and disc. again, same os and everything working perfect on my laptop and when i loaded the drivers onto my laptop it didn't give me any digital signature needed message, it all worked perfectly. i have noticed i somehow got something called AVG toolbar on my desktop and i am having problems uninstalling it. not sure if that could be a problem here

Check out the documentation with the drivers. If they are supplied as non certified you should get instructions. http://tascam.com/product/us-16x08/downloads/I'm surpised they have come as uncertified, but if they are the manual will tell you what to do. Perhaps you need to download your drivers again.. Yup you don't need avg toolbar, it's not related to your issue: https://support.avg.com/S...arch-from-your-browser... but I would upgrade your virus scanner and scan your PC. Maybe it's time to clean up your PC and do a new OS build. Windows 10 is here and it's free although not sure if your drivers will work or not.

Well you are running AVG I'd remove it completely and then install the latest version. After that do the same with malwarebytes. Each app for scan on your hard drives. Cheers.

slartabartfast https://www.raymond.cc/blog/loading-unsigned-drivers-in-windows-7-and-vista-64-bit-x64/ It is possible that there are no drivers available that are "signed" for your version. Microsoft markets driver signing as a security issue, but it also gives them control over driver writers, and ultimately a way to charge rent on their developers. At any rate, there are ways to circumvent that issue.
Earlier I said to refer to the specific manual for instructions. If it is an unsigned driver it should give appropriate instructions. I strongly recommend using caution, drivers get signed for a reason, it certainly can be a security issue.. You don't want to install a dodgy driver, or perhaps get conned by an installed virus conning you into installing something else. Ultimately you need confirmation that it is unsigned from somewhere.

Doktor Avalanche Ultimately you need confirmation that it is unsigned from somewhere.
The somewhere could be Tascam/Teac support. The fact that you have the driver installed on one Win7 Pro machine but an unsigned driver issue with the other brings up the question of whether the laptop is 32 bit and the desktop 64 bit. Driver signing in Win 7 is only enforced on 64 bit versions. . There is a driver for the unit on the Tascam website dated 2015-7-9 v101 that you should try if you have not already. http://tascam.com/product/us-16x08/downloads/ There is of course no way of knowing if that is really the Tascam website and no verification hash is present so you could still be installing a virus if an evil genius has hacked the site. That is the risk you take with all software from whatever source. There was some discussion on the Tascam forums that an earlier driver version that was released had serious problems and that they were asking distributors to hold the product until it had been fixed.

You might try doing a temporary disable of AVG - I have had issues with older releases of AVG, and ended up switching to Avast's free version. But regardless - you might try temporarily disabling AVG, and then doing the Sonar install. Bob Bone

Again remove AVG. Install the latest AVG (or whatever virus scanner you choose).Install malwarebytes. Scan fully with both. IMPORTANT. Make sure your machine is clean before you take the next step.

Also try not having your interface plugged into the usb port, or the unit turned on until the driver installation tells you to plug in the interface to the usb port during driver installation.
