Insert Bank/Patch Change, missing patch names??

This works for some soft synths.  I hit insert Bank/Patch Change with midi track selected and I see a nice list of identifiable patch names.  On other synths I see a numbered list from 0 to 127.  Is there a way to set this up?  I'm currently trying to get this to work with Z3ta +2 which only gives the numbers.  Has anyone else encountered this?

Update:  I tried DP and Rapture and see the same behavior.  When I use Dune or Alchemy it just works??  Do I need instrument definitions from Cakewalk?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, this can be done I have done this on True Piano and Lounge Lizzard using defind instrument inside Sonar I'm  also trying this on Zeta+2 and Dimension Pro yet, there are bank issuse and hundreds of patches that would need to be entered manually. If you find a way copy and paste please let me know.

This shouldn't be so hard to do?  I guess if users add there own patches it can get tricky.  If Cakewalk could provide starter files for factory content it would be nice (DP, Z3ta2, Rapture).  I assume there must be a patch list file in the vsti folder for this to work for other synths.  Do other users use the "insert Bank/Patch Change" feature?

As you probably have already discovered, every soft synth works differently.  With some synths the bank/patch names will translate into a list in Sonar, some will not.   Some soft synths are multitimbral (Kontakt), some are not (Z3TA).  Some are capable of responding to bank/program changes, and some cannot.

In your Cakewalk Plug-in Manager, go to the registered plug-in you are wanting to see the program names and click on Plug-in Properties.  There's a parameter called "Translate Bank/Program Changes".  Make sure that is checked.

    Thanks Jerry,

I tried setting the plugin option "Translate Bank/Program Changes".  This doesn't seem to make a difference.  I was hoping to use the insert patch change to reduce track counts but it seems it wasn't meant to be.  The hook must exist for vst's to provide the list but its not very widely in the vst's I've seen.

    Oh well moving on.
