Mackie Control integration
I hate to say this after having been a Cakewalk customer since 1996, but I am extremely disappointed that of all the DAWs Cakewalk's Mackie Control integration is extremely poor. Even Reaper manages to make it work. I am using Ableton Push and can get Mackie Mode to work in Studio One, Reaper and of course Live. But not Cakewalk. My alternative is to manually map each control using Cakewalk Generic Surface which of course is not bi-directional so is pretty much useless in this capacity. Not happy at all and Sonar is facing stiff competition to keep my custom. Can someone please fix this.

Thank You Ken. It was an excellent solution. Need to tweak the Mackie side of things but at least I have got it working.

It is an amazing utility. How on earth have we not heard of it before? Cakewalk can you make it a sticky thread for all users? It offers advanced control of your controllers.

I "advertise" it periodically, also it is mentioned in the sticky thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3238243 , you can find other useful Sonar related utilities here. Please note that build-in MCU preset is not well tested (I do not have the device). So let me know in case something is not working as expected or you want different functionality. We have found some solutions for almost all operations. There are some limits which are on Sonar side, but if something in Sonar is theoretically possible to do with a control surface, your device can do that!

There is no ready to use preset for C4. There was close to no feedback for MCU preset and so the development of presets for Mackie units was frozen (I do not have any). An example what is possible to do you can find in the BCR2000 thread on my forum. It is possible to use the preset with small modifications (Mackie handshake, control remapping and text to C4 display) with C4 (standalone), but that is not going to happened without an interest from community (someone with the device and willing to spend time at lest for testing and reporting bugs).

Hi Azlow3 Thank you so much for writing this program. It seems to be working well and the one I am using is the variation which now behaves like it should be. I use the Mackie Control mode with both Behringer and now the Ableton Push. I am also able to delve into it and edit the parameters I want. I cannot stress enough how blooming marvellous this thing is and how much of a legend you are. I would happily donate $20 to you just for making this solution.

Another Azslow3 fan here. Love the "speed dial" option, too.

Thanks friends! kenny@vhprecords.com ... and now the Ableton Push...
I have not found any official documentation for its protocol, but using some information form the Internet (and may be with some MIDI monitoring in addition...) it should be possible to use LCD display, touch function on encoders and control RGB color on pads.

For the Ableton you would need NativeKontrol's PXT-General software. This will make the Push nearly fully functional on Sonar. Having said that, if you add Azlow's software you could map all the parameters to the Push wit the exception of the step sequencer.
