Orchestral Tools has announced the release of The Nocturne Violin

Orchestral Tools has announced the release of The Nocturne Violin, which is part of Orchestral Tools' new Soloists Series. The sounds were sampled from selected Berlin artists and designed to capture a solo-style dynamic range and a variety of lyrical expressions. Months of development and test recordings led Orchestral Tools to develop Capsule, new concept in legato and articulation sampling.
Because it was recorded in the Teldex Solo Booth, it will fit with the Berlin Series. The specific acoustic properties of this room lead to a more intimate and direct sound to enable a user to place the Nocturne Solo Violin close up in front of the orchestra.
With an extended version of the innovative Adaptive Legato System, the Nocturne Violin is intended to be playable and shine at every tempo, for slow emotional legato lines as well as for quick and very fast detaché Runs.
Highlights:
  • 14 different legato performances at different speeds, expressions and techniques.
  • Choose between slurred or detaché playing in any legato patch.
  • Many different long notes with a variety of different lengths, dynamics and expressions for a maximum of realism.
  • Single Dynamic Layer Concept to reduce phasing to a minimum.
  • Recorded at the Teldex Solo Booth.
Price: €249 (+VAT where applicable). Soloists I: Nocturne Violin is based on Capsule for the NI Kontakt 5 Full Version sampler. This collection is a download product only.
Have a listen to the demo compositions:

Not really impressed. Especially at that price point. Seems solo strings is the new fad in the market cause literally every company is making them now. Really annoying because it's a very hard instrument to capture and most do it poorly.

I'll stick with my Embertone.

None of the solo libraries have quite figured out how to make a violin slur connection.  Every note sounds like it is receiving a new bow direction.  There is far too much randomness in the left hand based on the needs of the performance that cannot be emulated.

I'll stick with the real thing for now.

You guys may have never heard this before but I'm at a loss for words. I have no idea what we are talking about. I know it was some violin deal at one point but....I had some clever things to say too. About female Lithuanian prison camp guards and Bulgarian shot-putter's but I think I'll sit this one out.

It is about emulated violins and obviously, we all seem to prefer the real thing. Having said that, I'll leave you too alone, and gracefully Flee from here.......
