Step Sequencer basic question

All these years I have never used the step sequencer. So I just made one simple bar of sidestick, 1-2-3-4 quarter notes.

Copied it to 8 bars. Set double click behavior to Open event list-but it refuses.

Always goes to step seq? why? Shouldn't be this difficult for such a stupid simple thing.

I will not use it again but I am curious now-why is it tied to the step seq-to me that's really dumb-sorry

Thanks

It doesn't seem dumb for SONAR to assume that if you created something with the step sequencer you'd want to edit it in the step sequencer. In any event, to convert a step sequencer MIDI clip into a standard MIDI clip, simply bounce the clip to itself.

You can also do the reverse. Right-click on a standard MIDI clip and choose Convert MIDI Clip(s) to Step Sequencer.

To change the default view for a MIDI clip, click the menu in the upper right-hand corner of the clip

Thank you both - I just meant if I change the default double click view to event list......that should be enough info for Sonar to understand that I I double click I want the event list. That's the-well how about -confusing part

I see where you're coming from, but I do think it's logical that if you've chosen to work with the step sequencer, then a double-click should bring you to its editor. Once you get out of the step sequencer by bouncing the clip, you've taken the method of generating the data out of the equation and are just displaying and editing data, like the PRV or event list. Then the clip will follow the default double-click rules.

I can see both sides . . I guess I got a bit frustrated because I have been using Cakewalk for so long just never the step seq, never even opened it until last night.

Still way back in my mind I am still bummed that they cannot fix my online\off line status. Guess it just isn't important enough, But it is to me. Part of the reason I stay away these days.

Appreciate it
Frank
