Max. No. of instruments exceeded in synth rack

Does anyone get the above message when inserting a soft synth (TTS or CSC for example)? This is despite having removed 4 or 5 soft synths from the project  (that actually worked) prior to trying to insert. In my project now I have a TTS, a CSC and two VST plugins.

    MC has always had a limit on the number of soft synths that can be used simultaneously (8?) since it's a beginner program, and because Cakewalk would like you to eventually upgrade to a program without limits.
    How did you 'remove' them? You have to delete them from the synth rack to totally remove them from the project.
