Free Online Introduction To Music Production Course

Music production newbies or those desiring a solid overview of the basics may want to take a look at the free, online Berklee College Of Music course Introduction To Music Production offered though Coursera.  The goal of the course is to help you learn about the music production process—including recording, editing, and mixing—and the tools available to you to create contemporary music on your computer.  The course is self paced and the expectation is the course will take about six weeks to  complete with 6 to 8 hours of study each week.

I have taken several of the Coursera courses, and have to say that they were all pretty good.

This one is OK, but if you have much familiarity at all with music production, you will not learn a lot.  Also, its not exactly self paced as you submit assignments for peer review on a weekly basis.  On other note, there is an implication that videos are the "thing" for the assignments, but don't go down that rabbit hole.  You are limited to 5 minutes of video and it is very difficult to communicate enough info on the topics in that amount of time to complete the assignment.

Enjoy the course if you are taking it.
