New Mix #3 Up now!

Hopefully fixed the chorus vocal timing issues, put back some low mids in the bass guitar, and stretched out the abrupt cuts in the rhythm guitar stops.

Sincere thanks for everyone's input, advice and suggestions, you guys are truly the BEST!!!

I like the mix sounds good. I particularly like the way you really embrace the dissonance with the rhythm guitar.

I'm banging my head :-)

The only crit I would have is I would have liked to hear some lead guitar earlier in the arrangement even for just a bar or two to add a little color.

Great job.

Hi, Tom,

Thank you so much for giving this a listen and for your kind words and good suggestion!

After your suggestion I may try to find a spot for a short solo fill somewhere before the first verse just to see what happens.  I always say experimentation is the key to growth with this stuff!

Thanks again, Tom, greatly appreciated!

Have a great night!

Hey, Ed,

Major thanks for coming back to check out the new mix and for your earlier good input on the first mix, as well as your kind words of encouragement!

I always trust your ears because since I joined the forum, you've always been a great friend and very helpful with input on my past efforts.  Your earlier comment was a much needed kick in the butt to get me to dig deeper into this mix and try to find what was lacking/different from older song posts.  After hearing a song a hundred times it's easy for me to become immune to hearing defects and problems in a mix, and that's why the people in this forum are such a valuable resource.

Thanks again, Ed, I really appreciate your input, friendship and support!

Have a good one, buddy!
Bob

Just listened to the new mix...    There's still a bit of slipperiness in the chorus timing but I do think you've honed in on the right spots.

Bob,

Timing is much better.  Sounds good.   Still seems to be some funkiness with outro chorus timing but the rest is all good.

Regards

Sure fits the genre and has some interesting instrumentation sounds. Deep and dark guitar for sure.
Lyrics are about you (living my life for me), kind of the opposite of what I do, but we all have choices.

Hey, Steve,

Thanks so much for coming back for a second helping on this one, I really appreciate your input!

I'm still tweaking the chorus timing a bit, but should get it squared away soon.

Thanks again and have a great weekend, buddy!

Hey, Mark,

Big thanks buddy, I'm really grateful that you were able to come back for a second listen, you've definitely got some of the best ears here on the forum!

I'm still touching up the echoes in the final chorus and thinking of possibly snipping them a little bit to make them fit better with the main vocals.

Sincere thanks for all of your great input, advice and support, I truly appreciate it!

Have a good one!

Hi, John, how are you, my friend?  Hope you're doing great!

Thanks very much for giving this a listen and for your very kind comments!

Unfortunately, it seems like you either didn't listen to all of the lyrics, or more likely, just misinterpreted them.

The song is actually about breaking free from something or someone that has been holding you back and not allowing you to be who you really are in life.  It's actually a message about leaving behind bad people and negative things in life, and finding your way and directing all your positive energy towards the future.  I'll post the lyrics below just for clarification.

Anyway, thanks again for checking it out and commenting, I always look forward to and greatly appreciate your input, observations and support on my posts, and always enjoy your compositions!

Best Wishes, John!
Bob

Verse #1:

Turn the lights down low, there's nowhere left to go
The clock is frozen now, time has stopped somehow
Blood boiling in my brain, I'm gonna go insane
I'm fighting through the pain, I'm gonna break these chains

Chorus #1:

I'm unchained, you can't tether me
You're never gonna hold me down
I'm unchained, you got the best of me
You're sorry that it's over now

I'm unchained, I'm gonna break away
I'm finally gonna be set free
I'm unchained, I'm gonna save the day
I'm finding my way and living my life for me

Verse #2:

Shattered hopes and dreams, tearing at the seams
Another day goes by, I'll break these chains and fly
Blood boiling in my brain, I'm gonna go insane
I'm fighting through the pain, I'm gonna break these chains

Chorus #2:

I'm unchained, you can't tether me
You're never gonna hold me down
I'm unchained, you got the best of me
You're sorry that it's over now

I'm unchained, I'm gonna break away
I'm finally gonna be set free
I'm unchained, I'm gonna save the day
I'm finding my way and living my life for me

Chorus #3:

I'm unchained, you can't tether me
You're never gonna hold me down
I'm unchained, you got the best of me
You're sorry that it's over now

I'm unchained, I'm gonna break away
I'm finally gonna be set free
I'm unchained, I'm gonna save the day
I'm finding my way and living my life for me

Such clarity! Really nice work, loved the riffs. You have such a powerful voice, it seemed like my ears wanted it to be much bigger in the chorus. You set a pretty high bar here though!

I’m still experimenting with the vocal levels a little bit for the final mix and hoping to still polish a few things up a touch.

I greatly appreciate you giving this a listen and commenting.  Have a great weekend!
