Exporting as MP3

Can somebody tell me what it is that I have to 'unlock' in order to export and/or save as an MP3 file? And maybe how to unlock it? I'm just wanting to share some files for collaboration between friends and the WAVE files are a bit large for convenience. We're not looking for production quality just a convent way to share.

The MP3 exporter is a paid extra.  If you want a free alternative, download Audacity and the Lame MP3 Encoder for it.  It's an extra step, but it beats paying out money you don't need to.

Try exporting using the flac file type.

Otherwise, there is a one-time fee for the integrated mp3 encoder or you can use a command-line encoder and set it up with the External Encoder Configuration Utility.

If you elect to purchase the integrated encoder, make sure to get the correct one, here is a post showing the two versions at the store http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3273106

I would add store links but they don't work. This is what I get following the store link above

a mostly blank page. I cropped the terms and conditions at the bottom of the page.

I get a bad page for store links using Microsoft Edge, but it works well with my primary Browser: Opera. It must be a browser thing.
