Soon to migrate from X3e to Platinum; any top "gotchas" to be wary of?

I recently bought an upgrade from Sonar X3e to Platinum. I did it because, for the price, Mix Recall, VocalSync, and the bug-fixes seemed too good to pass up.

I've not yet downloaded / installed anything. But hope to do so, and get into a new project, this weekend.

While I've read about the new features in each release starting with the first Platinum release, and so don't need anyone to summarize those for me, I would like to ask Platinum users who also migrated from X3 -- are there any non-obvious aspects to the new software which caused you any head-scratching / "WTF" moments / unwelcome surprises which, in retrospect, could have been avoided, knowing what you know now?

Again, less interested in hearing about new features than about changes to existing ones / the GUI which one only learns about the hard way...Also interested any caveats re importing an X3e-origin project into Platinum.

As ever, grateful for guidance.

Can't think of any really :)

I would remove any plugins you don't use, and attempt to get rid of 32 bit plugins beforehand.
Before you update make sure you check your file paths are in Sonar X3E correctly.
After you've installed CCC, make sure the file paths are set correctly set up in settings before you install Sonar.
    After install -> Start Platinum.
Check your file paths in Platinum are correct, and then again in CCC.
Make sure you reset and then rescan your plugins.
    Close.
Run windows update everywhere (inc optional ones), maybe several times, and update your drivers and firmware for your audio interface.
    Defrag.

And before you do all this, don't forget to backup with something like TrueImage and an external hard drive.

    Cheers..

I would say just the opposite. The improvements are logical and way cool. Its sort of why wasn't in it already sort  of thing. There are no gotchas in Platinum except its sort of addictive.

I upgraded 2 days ago. A few things to get used nut nothing major. (not so far anyway)
To me it's like an enhanced & better version of X3.

The one and only 'gotcha', and it's a BIG one, is that if you are fond of X3e, once you install Platinum, you will never want to go back. So be sure to say your goodbyes prior, because you wont get a chance afterwards

I admit that I didn't do any specific preparation when moving from X3e to Platinum.  After the installation, the three things that I remember having to manage/correct were:
    • My custom Plug-in Manager menu for FX had to copied into the correct Platinum folder
    • My track templates and project templates had to be manually copied into the correct Platinum folder
    • My track folder font color customization had to be reinstated
That's it. My keystroke customizations and everything else "just worked".
