(Solved) Hopkinton not allowing me to import Audio

I used to be able to just drag and drop audio files of various kinds into Sonar and it worked flawlessly. Since Hopkinton, I get errors such as "RIFF file create failed" for .wav and .mp3's and DirectShow error. Cannot playback the file. The format is not supported for M4a's. No matter how I import, I get these errors.

Delete the contents of the directory defined in "Picture Folder" in Preferences > File > Audio Data

Are the files on the same drive as SONAR? If not, try moving the files to a different location before importing.

Both on the C: drive. I've never seen this behavior until Hopkinton

I have an older X3 version of Sonar on the computer as well. Just tried it out and everything works fine on it. Just not on Platinum H. Does it work on your computer?

Wow, I just rolled back to Gloucester and it doesn't work there either now. X3 still works. Gloucester USED to work. I'm on windows 10. Could it be one of the many updates? Is your computer on 10 with all the latest updates?

Does the track have a mono plug-in or mono interleave?

No its just a stock Stereo track. I've tried importing it to various types of tracks, even a midi one to see if melodyne would respond. Nothing. Just errors. I'm pretty sure that I dragged a file onto a track in Hopkinton a few days ago and it worked. Something has changed recently and I can't put my finger on it. Just windows 10 updates. Hmmmm.

I am not on Win10. Try rolling back the Win10 updates.

Just went through the longest system update on record only to find that the problem still persists. I'll have to check things out again tomorrow. Weird problem. I really can't get any work done as I do a lot of editing of files that I can't import.

    To be continued . . .

Try using the browser to find the file (as in navigate the browser to the file location and then drag from the browser). I don't think I've been able to drag and drop for as long as I can remember but the browser method works fine.

    Grum.

OK, now I feel stupid. I found out what the problem was. I don't use Per-Project folders. When I installed Hopkinton it created an audio folder on my desktop. When I was cleaning up the desktop I deleted the Audio Folder (it didn't have anything in it). Sonar didn't know where to store the imported audio and gave me errors. Once I pointed the Audio folder to an existing place, it worked. Phew! glad to get that figured out.
