My Territory Ranch
Last year my bank was sold to and new company and I was given a new debit card. I informed my insurance, let's call it Territory Ranch. I phoned them to give my new debit card number. They took my new card number and told me everything is up to date and there was nothing else I needed to do.
3 months go by and I get a mail with my apartment number filled in by hand. I don't know if it was the postman or the apartment manager that did it . If I receive mail without my apartment number on it it is returned (I guess) the point being I don't get it. The letter stated I had 3 days to pay or my car insurance would be cancelled due to non payment. It also stated that they had tried to contact me and got no response. Luckily time hadn't quite expired. I paid them and called my agent and the main office to insure that wouldn't happen again. I spent about 4 hours on the phone. I had them add my apartment number to my mailing address. They told everything is up to date and there was nothing else I can do.
Fast forward to 4 months ago. I broke that debit card and had to get it replaced so I phoned territory ranch to give my new debit card number. They took my new card number and told me everything is up to date and there was nothing else I needed to do.
I had 2 surgeries scheduled and decided to have the 1st in the last part of June.
After the surgery I went home and checked my mail. Again, I had a mail from Territory Ranch. My apartment number was left off again and this time the letter stated my car insurance was cancelled due to NO RESPONSE. I called my agent and the main office and spent about 4 hours on the phone ( it was very hard to speak) yet again. I told them about what had happened a year earlier and what I had done that AND this time to fix it.They told everything is up to date new address with the apartment number in the computer and there was nothing else I needed to do. The letter said they had tried numerous times to contact me but to no avail thus the cancellation.
The dates of non payment were June 28 thru Jul 3.
After my second surgery and I was home I checked my mail. I had a letter from the DMV stating the I was to pay a fine of $143 due to negligent lapse of insurance coverage.
I spent the day at the DMV and after several phone calls was told even with my proof of not being notified and why I will have to pay that fine anyway. Seems there was a no tolerance law passed in Feb. that if you are not covered you are fined regardless. WHA?
I also found that Territory Ranch had not taken the trouble to update their computer till JUl 7 with the correct address address. Thus the debit card number on file was the old card.
I have gone thru this with no voice and dealing with the aftereffects of the surgeries. Try doing your business without being able to speak or in my case barely intelligible.
