Mixing MUSIC Fun with Sonar

I've been recording in sonar for 4 years now. Just mixing my own songs.

Then about a week ago on a whim I tried dropping in some of my favorite music James taylor, Pink Floyd etc. - lots from the 60s - 70's. ... I added Scheps 73 Waves EQ which adds a certain character to the sound, then a free Tape saturation plug Tessla Pro mkii, some pro channel EQ carefully shaped to what sounded perfect to my ear.. and wham.... music that sounded like I remembered.  I couldn't believe it.

Maybe I am adjusting it to my ear, and any loss from age. But I am really happy how my favorite songs are sounding now.

If you are curious, give it a try. Salt to taste.

Hmm as it was recorded to tape one wonders how added tape saturation adds anything other than compression and distortion.
Then again that's exactly what vinyl does.

I don't know. There's theory - and then there is practice. The theory may say one thing -  but I can't deny what my ears are telling me about the results.

At any rate, just thought I'd share.

Exactly what people who prefer vinyl would say. Just commenting about it, not poo pooing it . Whatever works... Cheers...
