Cakewalk - Will there be a Sonar H maintenance release?
Specific question for Cakewalk.
Will there be a regression release? I notice there are many many issues with the start screens etc.
Also people still seem to have problems downloading via CCC.
Also when is promised the Rapture Pro release coming out? Same with concrete limiter?
And we still need BIG issues fixed with Z3TA+2
Thanks..

Unless it's a data-loss crash bug, I don't expect to see a maintenance release. On the other hand, under the new business model we can have a high confidence that an update will arrive in ~3 weeks. Good times!

I would agree, but one has to bare in mind this was one of the few features released with H, and this functionality was (unfortunately) enabled by default. Foreign language users can't really use it. Heaven forbid people demo'ing this with a view to buying it might think. One way or the other I'd still like to know what is actually happening (not just with Sonar).

They normally tell us. They've told us there is another Rap Pro service pack on the way for instance in the instrument forums a long while back (I'm beginning to think it's not going to happen), and they have regularly told us a Sonar maintenance release is on the way in the past (I am guessing there won't be as we haven't heard anything). With Z3TA+2 we've had to cope with a lot of bugs for years and it is still for sale. If they are never going to fix issues again here it's time we heard. With concrete limiter they said a patch is coming out as soon as they sort a CCC installer (a while back) so ever hoping. I wonder how long before it's time to give that up. Thanks...

For what it's worth I'm happy to stick with Gloucester for a while, those foreign language users though might feel different. Rap Pro, CL and Z3TA+2 however is a different matter. I appreciate at this point I may have put myself in the way of being accused of strangling kittens etc and a bun fight. But this is a pretty simple question aimed squarely at Cakewalk ask what is happening with service pack support. At this stage I think it's pretty reasonable, I'm not moaning on about the actual issues... If you want I can, but they are documented so I don't see much point.

Thanks..
This is a user forum. We are lucky that Cakewalk staff interact here a lot, but you, of all people, should know this is not the way to get official responses from Cakewalk. Perhaps questions aimed directly at Cakewalk should be asked through the proper channels. There is a phone number, or one can email. Unless there is an ulterior motive for asking these questions?

So I've been avoiding pulling the trigger on Rapture Pro, waiting to see if some things gets fixed. Then I see it's part of the summer sale, and I think hmmm . . . but when it's finally fixed, we may have to pay full price for it by then ?

It was mentioned in a thread somewhere, maybe in Cakewalk Instruments, I also recall one of the Cake people saying something like there is big things or exciting things, or something like that, coming or planned for Rapture Pro. I have all but given up on it, since reinstalling it just let it sit there and rot. Haven't really used it since a couple of weeks after release, it depresses me. Plenty of other stuff to use including the original Rapture and Dimension Pro and all the other top quality 3rd party stuff.

There has been one update to Rapture Pro. When I first bought it, it was virtually unusable, but since the patch was implemented, I use it in most projects. It always seems as though it's not responding, because there's no indication or progress bar, but some of the patches are quite RAM intensive and it takes a few seconds to load. Once it's loaded, it's fine.

Just wanted to lend my support for the original query by Dr. A about S-Pt H. If there are issues it would be best for all for this info to be out in the open, including CW's near term plans for tidying things up. It will help others to decide when it is "safe" to update. Thanks.

Agreed, the last patch was good enough to stabilize the product pretty well (Cakewalk managed the priorities well on what got fixed first), but there are still some obvious stuff missing which has been discussed in the instrument forums. Also the levels for many of the samples were not normalized. We were told another SP would be on it's way shortly after the last patch was released. Glad this thread is stabilizing into a sensible conversation... thanks.

Unfortunately you may be right about CW but I would urge them to keep improving how they share this type of info with all. If a user wants to wait to install S-Pt H until the fixes are out before upgrading then they will need to know when CW is pushing them out. In this case the yellow dot in the updater is not enough since it is already yellow (if you see what I mean). Case in point was the earlier S-Pt version that had a bug related to the Drum Map for some installations. The link to the fix seemed to be buried in a forum. Luckily our friend Mudgel came to my rescue and pointed out where the fix was listed. Many of us feel CW is doing a good job with their programming, this is more about ironing out the details of communication related to the new monthly update model. R

I think he's referring mainly to loose ends with Start Screen (e.g., can't handle some foreign language alphabets) and CCC. As to Rapture Pro, you may have noticed I didn't post about it when it came out...that's because I didn't use it. However, since the last update, I've been using it more. Not the most elegant instrument in my collection, but I'm finding it increasingly useful. Like Rapture, it does things other instruments can't do.
