Have you ever tried an external power supply on the interface? Its possible that the firewire is not passing enough power to the interface in order to light up.

I've seen these Sapphires on sale quite a bit. It makes me wonder if they will be doorstops in a few years. Some of the newest models have Thunderbolt support. I seen one in a local GC and you still needed a FW-TB adapter. I have a motherboard that has TB support but you need to buy additional items to use it.

Sonar Platinum, W7 Pro 32GB Ram, Intel i7 4790, AsRock Z97 Pro 4,  NVidia 750ti, AP2496

Sonar Platinum, W7 Pro, 16GB Ram, AMD FX 6300, Gigabyte GA 970 -UD3 P, nVidia 9800GT, Guitar Port, Terratec EWX 2496

According to some wags, thunderbolt may be dying
and replaced by USB3

Actually USB-C will be keeping thunderbolt very much alive.

This inconsistent adoption of a platform is not a good thing.  It reminds me of AMD having two sockets of 939 and 754 boards.

LOL... Is this a dead parrot sketch?
Whether you like it or not... Chances are your next USB-C PC will have compatibility.
