So...Is Pro-Q 2 it?
I've been looking around for a new EQ and software that can do spectrum matching. Pro-Q 2 does both. I have good EQs and so I've been testing the Acon Digital Defilter (good plugin), but I'm not sure It gives a clear impression of a reference materials spectrum. I'm wanting a visual aid...not an audio aid. The spectrum match would only be a lose guide to help show problem areas. A plugin that could freeze the spectrum of reference material may be enough. It seems Pro-Q will do just about anything, but it's $165 for me. Any ideas on alternatives?

I may just have to look into that one. I always forget about Melda Productions for some reason. I need to do the update so I'll check it out. Thanks. What about MautodynamicEQ?

They are all free to try. Individual plug-ins often 50% off, even cheaper when buying bundles on sale.

Fabfilter Pro-Q2 has made most of my other EQ's obsolete, especially since you can use it in Low Latency, Natural Phase, or Linear Phase modes, 3 totally different CPU hits, depending on what you're using it to do. I use Sonar Quadcurve EQ (Pro channel) when doing recording, to quickly rough in a mix, for the sheer convenience . . . but then it usually gets replaced by Pro-Q2 when the mixing gets serious. Like you found out . . . not cheap. Before I got the Fabfilter Pro-Q2, I used a combination of Voxengo Span (now 64 bit VST3 - FREE !) and Sonar Quadcurve Pro channel, which worked well, but took a while longer to set up, and had a few less features. Not totally sure what you mean by a "spectrum matching" feature but I believe Izotope's Ozone has this ? Clicked on your You Tube link ! . . . maybe you don't need better EQ ? ... sounds excellent to me ;)
Cakewalk by Bandlab, Cubase, RME Babyface Pro, Intel i7 3770K @3.5Ghz, Asus P8Z77-VPro/Thunderbolt, 32GB DDR3 RAM, GeForce GTX 660 Ti, 250 GB OS SSD, 2TB HDD samples, Win 10 Pro 64 bit, backed up by Macrium Reflect, Novation Impulse 61 Midi Key Controller, Tannoy Active Near Field Monitors, Guitars by Vantage, Gibson, Yamaki and Ovation.

Well thanks for the compliment, but I'm still pretty far from calling myself an audio engineer! Hahaha! The spectrum matching would be used for getting clues to what may be out of whack. I'm not looking for a fix it button, just a better understanding of where I may be going wrong. Pro-Q 2 does have spectrum matching or EQ matching, but it may be more than I have to pay for what I want. 50% off of MautodynamicEQ may be the best bet, but I have some more testing to do.

If you're looking for a best-buy, the one EQ that'll handle just about any situation, my recommendation would be MDynamicEQ when it goes on sale. It doesn't have the EQ-match feature, but trust me, you don't need it. I do use Pro-Q2 90% of the time, but if I had to I could manage just fine with nothing but MDynamicEQ on everything. The main thing the Pro-Q2 offers over MDynamicEQ is M/S processing. Other EQs can do M/S (including MDynamicEQ), but Pro-Q is one of the few that can mix stereo and M/S filters in the same instance.

I have both Mdynamic and MautodynamicEQ downloaded to try. I did demo Pro-Q 2. Pro-Q 2 is awesome, I just need to decide if I want to spend that much now. I like what Acon Defilter is trying to do, but for the money It cost I would rather have Mautodynamic. I do have great Eq's already, but I want to learn from the sprectrum matching thing, so that is really a must for whatever I settle on. I have read your review on Mdynamic, Mautodynamic and Spectraldynamics 3 times since yesterday. (Tracktion 6 is also interesting)

MautodynamicEQ is now 50% off! That was the one I was leaning towards, so it will be bought today! Excellent!
