do I "own" Platinum or am I renting it?
Suppose I delete all my Command Center Downloads, then my computer dies, and I haven't renewed my subscription, does that mean I can't reinstall my current setup on my new computer? Without renewing my subscription? Simply wondering. I couldn't find a post answering this with "Search".

If you paid twelve payments of the full yearly fee upfront you ALWAYS have access to the version as of your end date. When you bring up a new computer you can either go to your store account and download (for offline install) the last version you are paid up for or just install CCC again and get the last verion you paid for that way. HTH. PS If you subscription has lapsed you simply will not get any updates of new content. Once you renew (assuming you do) you will get updates (cumulative, whch means all updates while in a lapsed state) but not any content that was delivered while you were lapsed.

Nobody owns any software apart from the guys who make it. You have a license to install it. Bottom line if you've bought more the 12 months you get to keep the license. If you've bought less than 12 months you don't. When you install the product is an irrelevancy. Sonar is also not tied to a particular PC either. But remember you only have one license. Now when it comes to keeping the software files, I hope you are making backups with something like Acronis on an external hard drive. Cakewalk should keep the install packages for you, but I would not 100% rely on it. ----> https://www.cakewalk.com/Register/FAQDoes this limit the number of times I can install my Cakewalk product? You can uninstall and re-install the software on your computer without having to worry about re-registering or being locked out of the software. Per the End User License Agreement, your purchase of the software grants you the nonexclusive license to have one person use the software on one personal computer at a time. If you want to use the product on more than one personal computer at a time, or if you want to network the product, you must obtain separate licenses from Cakewalk. If you have a second computer that you use on occasion, such as a personal laptop you use when away from your desktop, you may install the product on to the additional computer. You do not need to register the product again, simply use the same registration code tied to your account that has been generated for your unique serial number. Note that per the EULA, the software must only be running on one computer at a time unless you have purchased an additional license.

From what I've read here Cakewalk does keep a record of what you purchased and when. If you start over with a new computer, cakewalk will download the CC first, then add whatever you purchased. This is tied to your account. The problem arises if you lose your username and password, but there is probably a way around this as well.

Anything you "buy" you own... if you choose to pay monthly, it's like buying anything on "credit"... you own it when you've paid it off. The diff here is you get updates/upgrades monthly for a 12 month period if you say buy today... you "own" whatever comes out over that 12 months forever... see here

Just to repeat again you will not own Sonar, you are merely granted a license to install and use. Cheers..
